Problem solved: "error reading data from source tape"
Hi all,
In many posts, I find that the solutions aren't posted back once the person figures them out. So I thought I'd post my .02 now that I fixed my problem.
My setup: FCP5 capturing DVCPRO25 and DVCPRO50 from a Panasonic AJ-SD93 deck via firewire. I had recorded some voice overs on location with a client to my SDX900 camera and had printed color bars to the tape during the session. I am now attempting to capture the footage (actually just the audio) into my FCP project. I kept getting "Capture encountered an error reading data from source tape" as many of you have gotten as well.
After looking through posts and doing my own debugging, I found that my problem was pretty silly. I thought that I had taped the client material using DVCPRO50 when actually it was DVCPRO25. My capture preset "DV50 NTSC 48khz" when it should have been "DV/NTSC 48khz". Changing the capture preset to the correct one did the trick.
Hopefully some of you will find that your solution is this simple.
Regards,
Tim
