Moving Complete Mail Account to other Mac, and mutilple accounts on one Mac

I am looking to move a complete Mail account to a different Mac, as well as setting up separate users on one computer. For the first, is it simply copying the
Home>Library>Mail>(E-mail account name here) to the Users file on the other Mac, or is there another (automated) way to simply do this?

On the second issue--it isn't a policy at this office to create mutilple accounts to log in and out of. Would it be simply creating other mailboxes to log into via Mail?

Thanks!

Various, Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Hello Karl.

To make the Mail.app identical on another Mail (if both Macs are running Tiger) including all account information, mailboxes and settings, do the following:

Quit Mail on the transferred from Mac and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop or the desired location.

Using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist. Copy the com.apple.mail.plist file and place the copy on the Desktop or the desired location.

With the Mail.app quit on the transferred to Mac, place the copy of the Mail folder at Home > Library. If there is an existing Mail folder on the transferred to Mac, this will replace it.

Place the copy of the com.apple.mail.plist file at Home > Library > Preferences on the transferred to Mac. If there is an existing com.apple.mail.plist file on the transferred to Mac, this will replace it.

Launch Mail on the transferred to Mac and it will be identical to Mail on the transferred from Mac.

There is no automated way to do this unless you develop your own AppleScript or Automator script or function.

Regarding the 2nd issue, each person's mail (received and sent messages) will be available to all users if each user's email accounts are created in Mail under a single computer login account.

To keep each user's email account or accounts separate along with all other user data, each user must (and should) have their own computer login account. This way, each user's email account or accounts along with any other data is kept in their Home folder/directory and each user's Home folder/directory is kept separate from other users. Each additional user should have non-admin privileges and you can enable Fast User Switching which makes the process of switching between multiple user login accounts a fast and easy process.
