My iPhone shows a usb cable with the itunes logo and I plugged it in various amount of times and it still doesn't work. What do I do?
Also do I have to take it to the apple store if it doesn't work when I try again?

Does it say connect to itunes? Did this happen when you tried to restore or update your iOS?
I tried restoring it than after that it just showed that image and says emergency calls only.
Okie, Restart your iPhone by pressing and holding the power button. Once restarted if the same problem persists. Download this application called RecBoot. Its a small appication. Once downloaded with the phone connected run RecBoot. Click on "enter recovery mode". It should start working.
I can't find the app. It shows no extistance.
I've tried using it and it still hasn't started working yet.
You are sure there is not faulty cables or loose ends, right? Because I had this same problem last week when I updated to iOS5 and RecBoot saved the day for me. Is your iTunes uptodate as well.
Also check by using the exit recovery mode, if iTunes is not recognising the iPhone. I am sure you should be able to get past the screen you are on.

Everything is all set but its not doing anything but there's a black window that says "Will try to kick connected devices out of recovery mode.." How long does it take?
It took me five minutes. But I had to keep on clicking multiple times. Is the "will try to kick......" a button or something you can click. I guess you need to exit recovery mode. Is there any button which says exit recovery mode that you can click on, in the screen you are in.
I had the wrong one but my usb is working correctly. My phone charges but its not found.
You had the wrong one???
In RecBoot did you get the "Exit recovery mode" option.
