I just did an OTA update to 5.0.1 and now my iPhone 4S is stuck with the "Connect to iTunes" screen. Plugging it into iTunes tells me I have to restore my phone. This defeats the purpose of OTA if I have to plug it into a computer.

 

Any ideas before I hit the "restore" button? I'm afraid to touch my iPad now!

    I just did a full restore via iTunes. I'm now testing how good iCloud is at restoring my backup from last night. I'm kind of annoyed because I took a really beautiful picture of my sliced noodle soup at lunch that doesn't seem to have hit my photo stream yet. may have lost it. guess I'll have to eat another bowl!

    How do I do a restore, when I connect the iphone, Itunes doesnt even know its there. All I can do it power off holding the button & power on. When I hold the power & home button I get the white apple then it goes back to the connect to itunes screen

    same here, Wartungszustand (plug to itunes screen), error 21. guess its bricked. any ideas???

    Same thing just happened to me, iPhone 4S crashed during update to 4.0.1 while connected to my windows computer.  I unplugged/replugged/restarted both iphone and computer and iTunes still wouldn't recognize my iPhone and the phone was stuck at the connnect to iTunes screen.  Only way I could fix it was to connect my iPhone to my mac, update using my mac then resync it with my PC.

    I just plugged it into my netbook and its Restoring it on there so thanks, I know I will lose what I never had backed up but just be happy if it works. Fingers crossed this fixes it.

     

    Edit: It didnt work, come up with iTunes isnt connected to the internet then the restore fails

    my iphone 4s just had the same issue i still can not get it off the connect to itunes screen.. none of my computers will recognise it either..... is anyone else on sprint that this is happening to? i just want to know if its with the provider or anyone??? and apple please help me i now have no phone and thats screws my entire job so please dont make me go back to droid
