Q: iOS 5.0.1 problems - Searching for Network and battery life still isnt great.

So I dont know if anyone else is having this problem but I upgrade to iOS 5.1 today and it seems to me that my network is being dropped A LOT today.  I know it probably doesnt help that I'm on T-Mobile with a factory unlocked iPhone 4 but it seems that before I upgraded, I was able to keep my network for a longer amount of time.  Also, I think iOS 5.1 actually made the battery life worse.  Im down to 40% and thats without any calls, a few texts and very little wifi surfing.

Reply if your having the same problem lol

It started EXACTLY as you describe just as soon as I went to 5.0.1.

    VERY unhappy.

    Appleee... Please new update asap

The network is off like 80% of the time !

I don't care about the battery ( although still the same after ios5.0.1 : extremely bad)

I prefer that u try to fix the network/signal problem.

I personally have faith in apple, hope it won't turn us down.

    I completely agree with you!

I'm ready to accept bad battery and buy case with external storage battery, but Apple bring me back at least mobile phone, please! With iOS 5.0.1 it's not a phone - it's a disaster.

unfortunately you can't. Apple stopped signing 5.0 a few days ago and after that you can only downgrade on a jaibroken iPhone. It's a really stupid thing to do, but it's reality at least for now. Hope they change that too.

    From the NL, T-Mobile carrier.

Keep losing 3G and even GPRS, and have minimum reception. I am able to phone or text most of the time though. But it keeps happening a few times a day after I updated to 5.0.1.

Turning airplane mode on-off doesn't help. But turning the phone on and off does help!

Hope people who haven't updated yet read this, and simply wait...

Still love my iPhone though as someone here wrote: It reminded him of his buggy android phone... so I'm glad it's not a regular thing for apple!

I'm in Toronto, i'm experiencing the same problem with you guys. I just upgrade my phone to ios 5.1, my phone kept searching for providers. I had to restart my phone like 20x to finally get it working properly. But in a matter of couple hours, the same symptoms reoccuring again. UGH! Sometimes I got 2 bars of signals from the providers, i can't make any phone calls or send any text. I feel useless cuz no one can contact me. Especially when i'm expecting an important phone call today. I'm soo ****** right now with my phone!!

Has Apple's quality of their software downgraded ever since Steve jobs passed away?

I didnt even sync it with itunes incase the problem stemed from "bad files in the restore data", and sure enough the no service, searching bull **** starts again. This is FOR SURE A PROBLEM WITH the IOS, and not hardware. ***!!!!!!!!!!

Also, one note to add. When the phone goes into its B.S. no service, searching crap. If u pull the sim card out it should say ""No Sim"" however it just keeps on showing no service, or searching.. or 2 bars, and doesnt change. Most definetly a conflict in the sim management section of the ios software.

Looks like I'm in a minority for those who've posted in this thread.  I didn't have issues with 5.0 on my 4s, iPad 2 or after updating my mother's iphone 4 to 5.0.  I've updated all three devices to 5.01 and didn't experience any problems with updates, have yet to experience dropped network via wifi or cell network.  I did however do a backup of all devices first, then update, then setup each device as new--read this on another forum as an important step to take once an update has been applied.  For those reporting issues, give this a try if you have not and post back if it does fix your issues.

I've disabled the iAds, Time Zone setting and Diagnostics, but have left Traffic turned on both prior to and post 5.01 update.  Battery life seems comparable to 5.0, but to be fair, I've only been updated for a couple of days now.

One thing that I'm curious about... Re: battery performance issues in general:  Is it possible that battery drain may be due to the network carrier for those devices?  Certainly hardware issues could play into that---if there were a batch of phones that went to a specific carrier that had defective components and whatnot, but I'm wondering if the type of network connectivity and the way it interacts with iPhone for each of the carriers has anything to do with the battery problems?

Good luck getting resolution to those with issues.

This new ios 5.0.1 crap is really crapppppppp!

@Jack2000, i had the same problem with you too. I thought it was only a bug that only happened yesterday....but today it occured again.

Yesterday I had this problem, no service providers, cannot make any phone calls or send/receive text messages.

but then after 4 hours, it went back to normal.....

Today, i had my phone working perfectly normal in the morning. Til i entered and exi  the subway and had the whole thing ****** up again...no service providers, cannot make/receive any calls, cannot send/receive text messages. I realized that my phone didn't work start at 1pm, then at 4pm, it went back to normal...BUT i had to restart the phone like 20-30 times....I HATE THIS PHONE RITE NOW! I used to love and cherish apple but this makes me really frustrated! i hate it!
