Q: iOS 5.0.1 problems - Searching for Network and battery life still isnt great.

So I dont know if anyone else is having this problem but I upgrade to iOS 5.1 today and it seems to me that my network is being dropped A LOT today.  I know it probably doesnt help that I'm on T-Mobile with a factory unlocked iPhone 4 but it seems that before I upgraded, I was able to keep my network for a longer amount of time.  Also, I think iOS 5.1 actually made the battery life worse.  Im down to 40% and thats without any calls, a few texts and very little wifi surfing.

Reply if your having the same problem lol

I got my iphone 4S and updated it to ios 5.01 the very next day. I've noticed that Network reception signal is much worse at all times than my 3GS, but I don't know if this was since upgrading or if the antenae on the 4S is just not as strong. As an example: there is no reception in my garage, but my 3GS connects the minute I exit the garage, whereas it takes my new Iphons 4S 3 long minutes (!!!) to connect once I have exited the garage. I changed SIM cards, but this did not change anything. As for the battery, i let the battery drain completely, then charged it during a whole night. Since, with very little use during the day it lasts about 36hrs. No comparison to my 3GS which lasts a few days.....

Well, it seems that the luxembourgish provider LuxGSM together with Apple might have tracked down the fault to not using the latest SIM cards in the iPhone 4s (read somewhere that Apple apparently told all providers before the launch to use latest generation SIMs!).

They are running test which seem promising, but sourcing and distributing the new SIM cards might take some time, it seems!

If this is true, it would NOT be Apple's problem, which could explain the fact that Apple has not yet reacted officially to this problem. They can not just say it's the providers fault.... people would just think they try to save their hides. They wait for the providers to go public!

Might be, at least I hope this will be resolved soon.

Well that's all good and all, but the should inform their costumers that buy unlocked phones about the SIMs specifications. Tomorrow I'll be chaning my sim to a brand new Vodafone one. I'll report back on that. Thanks for the point of view.

Well I do not think there are any SIM related issues, my iPhone 4s worked brilliantly (except the battery issue which I could like with) iOS 5.0. The day I updated to ios5.0.1 I started having network & wifi issues. My friends phone which is still running ios5.0 on 4s works absolutely fine..

After uppgrading to iOS 5.0.1 battery life have been excellent!

Don´t know if that is because I turned of the automatic timezone or the iOS5.0.1.

I did have problems after uppgrading to iOS5, but no problems loosing network or with battery life before uppgrading to iOS 5.

I am using iPhone4 with Telia Sweden and before that iPhone3 with Telia Sweden and with Telenor Sweden.

I just got a new sim card yesterday. Poped it in, SAME PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact that the iphone 4  worked perfectly fine before with ios 4, and now is totaly craped out with ios 5 leads me to easily point the finger to ios5 problems.

    Hi Everyone!

I got a new micro SIM 32K from my carrier today and it did the job on my 4S. It has been approximately 8 - 10hrs and no call drops, no failed sent messages no nothing. Crystal clear call quality and simply perfect.

The problem is definitely in the new iOS5.0.1. Apple really have put us in great discomfort but again there is always a way round it. Will keep you updated of any further issues - if any but hope not - arise from my 4S.

    Regards

Yes - THIS WORKED for my iPhone 3GS.

I had to remove and replace the SIM twice, though.

After upgrading to iOS5.1, my iPhone 3GS said "no SIM card".

I removed and replaced the SIM card twice, and that fixed the problem.

I have a factory unlockd 4g that is 2 weeks old. I use t mobile, had no problems at all.

It went kerflooey just as soon as i updated to 5.0.1. I just came from Apple store, and as told that altho the iphone DID

Handle 5.0 just fine, there must be some incompatibiltity with 5.0.1. I was told to return it for A refund.

Also, since Apple does not support anyone but At and T, Verizon, and Sprint, there is no guarantee that there will ever be a fix.

    :-(

    PS

I took it to T Mobile and they spent hours working on it, no change. they replaced the sim card twice.

First time, I am first time iPhone consumer, for a gadget noob like me this is really a pain!!

    iPhone 4s ***** big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we get a refund from Apple and return the phone?
