Q: iOS 5.0.1 problems - Searching for Network and battery life still isnt great.

So I dont know if anyone else is having this problem but I upgrade to iOS 5.1 today and it seems to me that my network is being dropped A LOT today.  I know it probably doesnt help that I'm on T-Mobile with a factory unlocked iPhone 4 but it seems that before I upgraded, I was able to keep my network for a longer amount of time.  Also, I think iOS 5.1 actually made the battery life worse.  Im down to 40% and thats without any calls, a few texts and very little wifi surfing.

Reply if your having the same problem lol

I have two I phones - a 4 and a 4S both on different networks, Orange and Vodafone.  As soon as I upgraded to 5.0.1 BOTH the phones battery died after 6-7 hours - I still have not resolved it and therefore am assuming it is a software issue as my Iphone 4 was working perfectly before the upgrade and battery life lasted about 2-3 days - now I cant even use either of them as an alarm clock as they both die in the middle of the night.  I bought a new Iphone 4S from Apple and a new contract with Vodafone Sim card only - and now have 2 useless phones.  I am going to try a new phone reset on my Iphone 4 and see if that works - my I pad though is working perfectly well even with the software update - so at the moment I have nearly a £1000 worth of useless mobiles - its all very well say we have to turn off this and stop that - but as others have said - the goods are not fit for purpose - what is the point of having something so expensive that doesnt work - Apple should be ashamed of themselves and their reputation - but I suppose they just dont care.

    Hello themisdragonash,

We all are unhappy about this but let's just wait a bit more. I'm sure Apple is working on this issue. Some days ago I sent an email to Tim Cook and I got the email replied by someone else and also have had some phone calls to discuss that.

Some users reported the carrier signal loss has been fixed after iOS 5.1 beta upgrade. I could fix my problem (at least so far) by asking my carrier a new micro SIM. This may not be the final solution as others reported the problem again after some days.

    Cheers,

Yes I am sure Apple are working on this - it would be good if they acknowledged so and said they are working on a fix - I dont have signal loss issues - just battery life. We will have to wait for a fix which no doubt will come or else they will be having to refund a lot of people - it is just that it leaves a sour taste on what should otherwise be a fantastic product. Lets hope we get something soon.

    Guys!

Got ip4S with 5.0 but updated it to 5.0.1. at the same time.

Some time in work just ok, but then 'it' begins.

So today i've to reboot the device about 1 time an hour. No message appears at the time the phone stucks and is unavailable for network.

More of that, if i take the sim out when the phone stuck, i can receive calls as normal, like there is no problem and it returns to the cell.

More of that, i'm 2 days on 5.1 beta 2 with modem f/w 1.4.00 and everything kust the same.

And even more - i got ducktaped all my sim (cut small holes for contacts of the phone, and even the sim tray - still no changes to the better side.

Today i'm gonna change my microsim in case if this method works.

    Yes.

I've got a dev.account due to my work, so just flashed the 5.1b2 to my iP4S. That's why modem f/w newer.

Phone still knocks off the network. If it was out for a long time (several hours) it gets "SIM Failure" warning.

ok... I asked 'cos I was expecting this issue to be fully fixed in iOS 5.1. I faced this problem when I upgrade to 5.0.1 and could fixed it (so far) after replacing the microSIM by a new one. I can use the phone normally but still get some network drops 2 or 3 times a day.

Also, I opened a bug report ticket at Apple and have collected baseband logs to be troubleshooted. No answer yet.

Thats just like they always do - a long silent with no reaction, then finally saying something.

First was on MB99X MacBook Pros, then ip4 and now ip4S. quite wierd. This issue is very important just to sit in and saying nothing and should be fixed prior to other issues. But as is see that tale is same again.

I have also sent an email to Tim Cook and got this email replied by an Apple responsible and we have had some conversations by phone. But nothing solved yet.

OMG!!!!!!!! Apple screwed everything, again!!! They have released a new baseband update, via iPhone 4S iTunes Restore, and my iPhone is losing carrier signal every minute (AGAIN!!!). The problem I got almost solved by replacing my SIM just got back due to some Apple mistake. It's unacceptable.

Here is just a warning to you guys... do NOT restore your iPhones via iTunes or you will get the new baseband (1.0.14) with the new iOS 5.0.1 build (9A406).

    Apple... FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!
