Edit Distribution List in Address Book is gray

After updating to Lion OS 10.7, the Edit Distribution List menu selection is grayed out. How do we edit Distribution List (Groups) with contacts with multiple email addresses?

No, contacts are not duplicated as long as you do it as described in the MacFixit hint. "... but if you add new ones they will be stored locally on your system and not synced with iCloud. Therefore, do this temporarily and create a new group (it should appear under the On My Mac section), and then go back to the preferences and revert the default account to the iCloud setting ...". Maybe it's a bit heavyhanded, but not that much ...

"On my Mac" has only one group ("Workaround ....") without any contacts. So, it just works that way. No duplicats.

I found that once I switche the Adress Book Preference->General->Default Account from iCloud to 'On My Mac', the "Edit Distribution List' option came back .... and,

even when I changed the Preference back to "iCloud', I was still able to Edit Distribution List with iCloud AND local groups. Not sure if this will stick after sync, but it made me happy for a few brief moments....

The key is that the Contact List is now being kept in the Cloud & you cannot edit the Distribution List in your Mac's Address Book.

Easy Fix:

Quit your Address Book

Go to  Menu --> Sys Preferences --> iCloud

Uncheck the CONTACTS icon

Close Sys Pref

Open Address Book - Edit your Distribution Lists (No longer Greyed out)

Quit Address Book

Go to  Menu --> Sys Preferences --> iCloud

Check the CONTACTS icon

You should be good to go!

Hope this helps!
