iOS 5.0.1 - Made my iPhone 4S battery performance worse!

I upgraded my iphone 4S to the 5.0.1 release today. However, I've noticed that my battery life has actually gotten worse since I upgrade. For example, I've been home for approximately 30 minutes and my battery has gone down in 8%. In the 30 minutes, I had a 30 second phone call and sent 3 text messages. I am connected to our wi-fi (which is a strong connection) and I have re-started my phone.

Please let me know if anyone else is having any issues!?!!?

Apple - Can you please fix the iphone 4s battery issues? I might as well go get a 4g android phone if the battery life remains this poor.

iPhone 4S, iOS 5, Verizon

I too like everyone on this post went from great battery life to dead by 3pm after the upgrade. I tried many of the suggestions in this post like turning off iCloud and location services. That helped some but still no where close to where it was.

Someone said to restore the phone but erase it from the phone first. So I did a complete reset from settings then plugged it into itunes and set it up like a new phone. It is 6:50 now and I am still at 84%. The battery life may even be better than before now.

If you are still having problems, give it a try. Reset your phone from settings and once it looks like you are setting up a new phone, plug it into itunes and restore from a backup.

Complaining a non-issue? have you read the board at all? So many are experiencing horrible battery performance AFTER the update.

While waiting for Apple to figure what is wrong and offer a fix, I got this "Portable USB Charger - PC"

Oh O.K. sorry.

Yeah I have been having issues since October and wasn't trying to come across as cheerleading just hoping that in some way the steps that helped mine could or would help someone else.

I agree there is a difference in people trying to help others and then some of the posts on here that are just bragging with no guidance on how to help us.

See ya

I'm curious if anyone gets near the 200 hours standby or are we all hardcore phone users? It just seems like some random figure thrown out there as I've never owned a phone even before smartphones that last more then 3-4 days without a charge.

Also based on your stats lack of being unable to turn off the 3G is a major factor. I now have iCloud and location settings off. It's improved CPU usage which is now between 10-20% whereas previous was about 80% but it hasn't made any difference to the battery. I'm on about 6-7 hours as long as I don't make any calls!

I had a iphone 3GS before and did get a couple of days usage off a single charge with everything turned on.

Normally when a phones plugged in as much as my 4s it's when the battery's on it's way out and you need a new one!

Guys I think I get it: the problem comes by manipulating some settings. Yesterday after a DFU restore on Itunes, my battery was excellent (20% lost on 14h during the night).

This morning, I changed some settings, (notifcations mainly, and locations shut off)

---> since I did this, my 4S is again leaking, hot as a fire, I could bake an egg on it!!!

For me, 5.1 just reacts badly to some change of settings.

---> DFU restore and then: DON'T touch!!! 🙂

I tried your method and it worked. I unplugged after a full recharge at 00:30 and by 09:45am (9.5hrs) the battery was still 100% with just about 7-8 min usage although after unplugging i went to sleep straight away.

thanks

Yaarab,

it gets better too...download BatteryDoctor and use it everytime you charge.

Now that it's better let your phone completely die and then do a compete charge with BatteryDoctor.

Yesterday I got up at 3:50 AM EST and at 11:00 PM EST (19 hours later) with normal use I still had 45% left!!

It is the best it has been since I bought the phone in Oct.
