Feb 13, 2012 1:07 PM in response to CampLby grikster,You can be sure that iPhone wifi doesnt drop when standby or sleep. Thats why you all should use the services that you need or turn them off to save battery.
I cant tell you that standby with all off just normal signal phone ON. In 9 hours standby/sleep my iphone 4s 5.0.1 spends 7/8 % battery, 1% for hour +-

Feb 13, 2012 1:11 PM in response to griksterby CampL,Of course, tried with no SIM card too with everything else set as usual (some location services off, some system services off...regular stuff). In 9 hours standby/sleep my iPhone 4S 5.0.1 (9A406) spends less than 1% battery overnight, still 100% the next morning. That's superb battery as an iPod.

Feb 13, 2012 1:15 PM in response to CampLby grikster,i forgot to tell, im using 5.1 beta to turn off 3G. The problem with 5.0.1 is that you cant turn 3G and 3G eats the battery out.
We must wait for the 5.1 final

Feb 15, 2012 10:32 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby joeypt12,Here's some of the things that may be happening:
- The "small" number of devices they're saying is affected by battery life issues is not that small;
- The devices have faulty hardware, not acknowladged by the company (they can keep dragging the "patch" talk on and on and on, while in fact they might be rewritting software to make it lighter (they're calling it "patch", hence adapting the software to the hardware limitations);
OR
- It might indeed be a problem in software (I want so badly to believe so), and they're in fact doing everything they can to solve the malfunctioning of this device.
I am not trying to start any conspiracy theories, but I' ve come think about these possibilities... What do you think?

Feb 24, 2012 7:59 PM in response to griksterby sbailey4,Um well not exactly true. A couple of different instances to consider. If wi-fi sync is enabled it does seem to stay connected even while sleeping. But if that is disabled, you will see it drop from the router, also when you press the wake button you will briefly see 3G then quickly change to wi-fi and see it pop up on the router.
So it does drop wifi when it goes to sleep mode when wi-fi sync is disabled. Probably why some users see better battery when wi-fi is off . I suspect they have wifi and wifi sync on or off as a pair. Or of course if they are never near a wifi source and the phone is always looking for a connection and never finds one.

Feb 25, 2012 7:45 AM in response to sbailey4by jamesst20,Hi,
the best way to fix battery issue is to plug your phone in itunes and click restore. Yes it's going to remove everything but if you make a backup, you can get your things back easily, even more easily since iCloud exist.
In most of case, battery issue happens when you update your iPhone without restoring it.

Feb 25, 2012 2:25 PM in response to mtbeaulieuby Kirasheba,This is my first I Phone, I have the 4S 16gb. I am not impressed at all. The battery life is beyond poor. I complained to AT & T and Apple with in the first day after I bought it. I was told there were NO problems. I complained so much they gave me a new phone. Same problem!!!
I went to Apple again................I was told to let the battery drain all the way down then recharge it. Doesn't do a thing....last night I had 100% charge...everything is turned off and when I got up 7 hours later,....the battery was down to 37%!!!
I can't see being able to do a thing with this......I bought it so I didn't have to carry my IPod....with a battery like this.....I have to what a waste!!! I hope Apple does something.

Feb 26, 2012 11:46 PM in response to Kirashebaby Kliffy,Again I suspect that a software update will fix this problem, After getting my iPhone 4S I gave My old iPhone 4 to my brother it was running iOS 5 now 5.0.1 and it has no battery issues whatsoever.

Feb 27, 2012 5:12 AM in response to Kirashebaby jamesst20,Ok, well I confirm: iOS 5.1 Beta 3 really fix the battery issue, I just updated.
