When not in use i have location srvces-wifi off+no backgroud apps running.Take a look at yours crush reports - you may find some app that crushes alote ( like me with fritz chess) and fix some problems by deletting it

Mar 8, 2012 2:36 AM in response to sergiosby Invator,Battery life seems to be improved for me (although it's early to tell). Still at 100% after 37 minutes of usage and 4u24mins stand-by. This wasn't the case before the 5.1 update!

Mar 8, 2012 5:38 AM in response to Indie-daby alayka,After I upgrade my software to ios 5.1, the battery drains not so fast as before. But if it is not, then try to reset the network or settings. It worked with mine.

Mar 8, 2012 5:59 AM in response to Indie-daby troelsit,These screenshots don't say anything!
If you are using GPS apps like TomTom or Navigon you can drain the unit in 2-3 hours.
GPS is draining the battery so eventually disabling the location services and see if there is a difference

Mar 8, 2012 6:32 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby Richard Swainson,After months of disappointment and no improvement with my 4S's battery life - finally iOS 5.1 HAS fixed this issue. I am extremely surprised and very, very pleased.
As with everyone else who has been experiencing battery woes, I very much doubted that 5.1 would resolve things. However, after fully charging my phone and with around 25 minutes usage (sending a few emails, checking in to Foursquare and a little internet browsing) and with 5 hours in standby - I am still on 97% charge which is incredible.
All of my locattion/notification settings are exactly as they were before the update. Previously, I would now have a battery charge of around 65% with identical usage.
So, in my case at least, I can report that 5.1 did indeed fix my battery problems.
Hope it helps others too.

Mar 8, 2012 7:18 AM in response to Richard Swainsonby Manny1299,Mine stayed at 100% for about 20 minutes then started draining fast. I'm at 36%, 2 hours since my last charge and I've done less with my iPhone than usual.

Mar 8, 2012 7:25 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby RSpublic,Ugh. Mine is worse too. I'm now losing 1% batterly life PER MINUTE when the phone is just on standby with no apps running. Come on Apple, really?

Mar 8, 2012 7:40 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby Robs1011,My battery is worse after 5.1 update. Much worse. This is not acceptable. I might as well own an android device that does 4g if I can't brag about battery life anymore. #weaksauce

Mar 8, 2012 8:56 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby v rex, definetly worse. after updating the device, it get from bad to worse: phone is losing 1 % of battery literally every time i unlock it to see something. for instance, seeing just one picture makes battery bar dropping 1 %.. this is beyound acceptable.
one more thing: i shut down weeks ago absolutelly everything that is draining battery.. notifications, push, ping..... more than 20 options in meny changed for just one reason, preserving battery life and it *****..and ***** even more after update...

Mar 8, 2012 8:53 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby sbailey4,Guys, try this , settings>general>reset>reset all settings. Setup as new phone when it reboots. Do NOT restore a backup there is no need. This process will keep your data and apps intact. Run through the wizard like normal selecting your options. Then see if it works better. You will have to reset up any wifi connections you had as well as tell Siri who you are again.
