Mar 8, 2012 3:23 PM in response to mtbeaulieuby EA,I have a 4s and 5.0.1 with no battery issues. But after updating to ios 5.1 I noticed that my battery drains much faster.

Mar 8, 2012 3:33 PM in response to EAby brendonfromnull,The update has not been out for more than 26 hours? Did you fully charge it yet? Have you taken the time to see how long it actually takes from a full charge and what activities your doing with the phone?

Mar 8, 2012 3:41 PM in response to sbailey4by phtimo, what do you mean " then see if it works better" ??
going thru all this trouble and this is not a sure "fix" ???
for me it's worse now.before 5.1 I had good days and bad days w/o being able to find a pattern.
having pretty much the same usage every day, I would sometimes get to 9pm with 85% left and sometimes 65% ..
now with 5.1, battery drains definitely faster. visibly faster. I can look at the percentage and see it go down by the minute sometimes.
and I definitely stopped doing reminders on location b/c that's an absolute sucker, I have automatic update for time turned off and most location services off as well.
as such, I am in fact refraining from using my 4S for what it is advertised to be capable of, which is already annoying ..
I think there is a problem and I am not super happy with the way Apple is handling it.

Mar 8, 2012 4:04 PM in response to phtimoby brendonfromnull,Hey look I understand how you feel. But what are you actually getting for baterry life from 100% to close to 0%?
There is always a chance that you have applications running in the back ground, mail that is being pushed to the phone on a continious basis, blue tooth and a host of other feautures that are up and running.
Just trying to give you some ideas on what to check, I'm sure if the phone has some kind of hardware issue they would be happy to check it out for you. I just tend to find that there are so many features that are on this phone that, looking into a couple might just help eliminate the issue.
If that doesnt make the issue better get it into an Apple store or call support. They have been pretty helpful in the past.

Mar 8, 2012 11:25 PM in response to mtbeaulieuby TylerWe,I agree my battery has gotten allot worse I did not have anything to complain about with my iphone 4 in regards to battery. I searched apples website and found this forum with the battery problem. I am not jumping on the apple hating band wagon, love my phone, just had it die by 4 pm today on a full charge with relativley no usage other that standby. A few text messages ad one phone call literally. Lets get this fixed up Apple. still love you, but lets fix it.

Mar 9, 2012 1:37 AM in response to phtimoby nilesh73,reset network settings, change the time zone auto to manually as per your location in date and time general settings, recalibrate your battery mean let it fully drain and switch off automatically and charge it till 100% disconnet and again connect it to charging for an hour.
ios 5.1 really fix the bettery drain issue for my iphone 4s

Mar 9, 2012 1:39 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby Nagares,I had the same issue with my 4. After updating to iOS 5.1, I charged to 100% overnight & my phone discharged completely witihin about 4 hours the following morning. I did a full reset & restore directly from the phone, logging in with my Apple ID etc and the phone fully restored to its original settings, incuding wallpaper, text messages, email accounts etc. The only thing I have to re-sync is my music & podcasts. The battery now appears to be better than before & the phone isn't overheating anymore, which it was also doing after the upgrade. It may have been a rogue app, but either way, the reset sorted it.

Mar 9, 2012 1:54 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby erres,Had a good 4S battery live until...... the update 5.1
It's a long time since we could trust to update our osx / ios blindly.
Apple was known for it, bugfree OS.
I should have known better.
Never ever again upgrade.
Thats why still running OSX SL fo rmy business machines.
Thanks Apple, you become more and more a regular hardware vendor with... bigger prices and worse support.
Maybe some of the 100 biljoen cash could be used to fix the things?
And yes, I use Apple product almost 20 years now.

Mar 9, 2012 3:05 AM in response to Wijanarkaby yaarab,To all you guys out there who have iOS 5.1 battery issues, here's my findings after an upgrade from 5.0.1 yesterday morning.
With all the notifications / locations services off my battery drained quicker. All I had on was the 3G and wifi on. With a little trail and error I have found that once you are home in your own wifi range, then turn off the 3G and switch wifi on. When you are out then do the opposite i.e turn off the wifi and turn on 3G. Battery life improves dramtically but with both 3G and wifi on all the time, battery drains much faster. Give it a try and post your comments.
