Mar 10, 2012 7:27 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby RottenEggs,Iphone 4, was fine under iOS 5, and same settings now, like 4-5 times the energy consumption...
2% using safari 5 minutes, and about 75 % gone in half a day. Can't have a phone that lasts less than a day, it defeats the point of having a mobile if you need to charge all the time.
Am very deceived here. *** apple, this is so unlike your style...

Mar 10, 2012 10:57 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby RG Runner,My iPhone 4 had been great. No complaints at all. Then I downloaded this recent IOS 5.1 update. Now the battery drains like never before. What a bummer!

Mar 10, 2012 11:02 AM in response to eyekostmanby Shoup,Installed update to ipad2 and iPhone 4S. It made battery life far worse on both. I can watch the meter click lower and lower as I use them. Apple, your have to do better than this! PLEASE!!

Mar 10, 2012 11:10 AM in response to Shoupby Applefoxfan,Ok, so someone else upthread posted they ran their battery down to nothing and then charged (like recycling the battery in the old days). Well mine died because the battery was running down so fast so I had to recharge. Next day I used it for about 1.75 hours and went from 100% to around 50%. Clearly not getting the 8 hours on 3G as Apple states.
It charged all day and now today (day 3 after 5.1UG) it "seems" to be doing better. I didn't change any settings re fetch/push, wifi, bluetooth etc. Making almost no apps running (eg using GPS etc). But doesn't seem to be draining as fast. Though took 2 hour nap and lost 5% power, not sure if that's "normal" but doesn't seem to be as fast as before.
Not claiming anything is fixed, but just posting my experience thus far here.

Mar 10, 2012 3:17 PM in response to mtbeaulieuby Just an iPhone,Hi all.....again :)
Just wanted to repost so you all know that it looks like the battery drain and phone restart have solved my iPhone 4 battery issue.
Just FYI I have not altered nor did I alter at any point in time any settings on my phone to remedy this.
I have all services turned on except Blutooth which I turn on when needed.
I usually stop excess apps running in the background by double tapping the Home button so as to have only Viber and "necessary" apps like phone and SMS running if that helps you all.
Well I hope this helps at least some of you get past this annoying oversight in Apples quality process, but hey their record isn't too bad so far, so we shouldn't condem them just yet :)
Take care all!

Why would you say that 5.1 solves all battery issues when most responders to this thread claim the opposite already? In all honesty Apple has really screwed up this time and has done far to little to fix this battery fiasco since it first started last year with the 5 release. Apple has literally let down millions with this fiasco.

Mar 10, 2012 7:58 PM in response to mtbeaulieuby Charlzz25,I updated yesterday and made a full cycle recharge. My new stats are:
9 hours 20 min of usage
15 hours 45 min in stand by
I think that it improved a lot. It drains 10% per hour of usage aprox and 1% per hour in stand by aprox. I was using whatsapp most of the time, some tweets, playing army of darkness 10 minutes, downloading apps, surfing in safari and checking some emails.

Mar 10, 2012 9:09 PM in response to mtbeaulieuby Ankit23,I've updated my 4s to 5.1 9b179. My battery life is better but not sufficient for me.
My 4s battery drains by 1% every 5 minute on video playback.
It drains 1% every 3 minute while using internet on 3g
Now after turning of the cellular data with 3g,
It drains 1% every 4 minute on video playback,
is it means apple ios 5.1 has still bugs affecting battery life???
