Nov 17, 2011 2:41 AM in response to nk70by theotherWiL,you can downgrade your iOS, i've tried it. you only need the "iOS verson*.ipsw" you want your device to run and iTunes to do it. download the iOS(google it with the word "download" next to it) then, through itunes you can do the downgrade.
1. open itunes and connect your device
2. press and hold "shift"button (arrow up sign on windows OS)+ "upgrade" or "restore" (either way works) wait until a dialogue box pops up (the dialogue box will require you to select the *.ipsw to use).
3.(on the dialogue box) locate the iOS version*.ipsw you downloaded earlier then select it.
4. itunes should now start installing the iOS version you want your device to run.
hope it helps.

Nov 17, 2011 9:47 AM in response to Penn Electby Spaztastiq,With the downgrade technique, has this proved to reverse the iOS 5.0.1 issues? If I downgrade will I see that my phone has returned to its state prior to the update? I obviously can't wait to do this.

Nov 18, 2011 9:32 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby MoistyTheFish,Add me to this list. I had no battery issues with 5.0. But once I upgraded to 5.1, my batter now drains faster than it did on my 2 year old 3GS. Kind of ridiculous...

Nov 18, 2011 11:28 AM in response to mtbeaulieuby NewYorkYogi,I've made a separate post here so as to not clutter this very helpful thread:

Q: Does anyone notice a correlation between battery life and the number of Diagnostics?
Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & Usage > Diagnostic & Usage Data. How many items are listed?
The list is reset when you sync to iTunes. Even with a sync of a 3gs, I had at least a dozen items listed afterwards, which seemed to correlate with poor battery life. Now, 12 hours after a sync, I have no items listed and good battery life. I'm using the same apps I ever was.

Nov 19, 2011 10:22 PM in response to mtbeaulieuby missb00,I am too, one of the users that experienced no issues with 5.0. I thanked my lucky stars for that, after reading about the horrible battery life. When I saw the 5.0.1 upgrade for my iPhone 4S I thought well, it can only get better... WRONG!
Last night my battery wouldnt even hit 100% after 7 hours of charging from around 74%. Then today, with light usage, my phone was down to 17% after just 9 hours of taking it off the charger. We all need our phones -- they're not just pretty accessories. We can't be running around looking for our chargers 24/7, we need to be able to use our phones!!
Apple, please fix this. We don't want another botched job. Take the time to get it right.
PS guys I'm downloading the iOS 5.0 again to do a restore, using the above method. Here is a trusted download link: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750
The file is nearly 800MB but really... Its worth it to be able to use our phones!

I upgraded my iphone 4S to the 5.0.1 release today. However, I've noticed that my battery life has actually gotten worse since I upgrade. For example, I've been home for approximately 30 minutes and my battery has gone down in 8%. In the 30 minutes, I had a 30 second phone call and sent 3 text messages. I am connected to our wi-fi (which is a strong connection) and I have re-started my phone.
Please let me know if anyone else is having any issues!?!!?
Apple - Can you please fix the iphone 4s battery issues? I might as well go get a 4g android phone if the battery life remains this poor.

Nov 21, 2011 8:25 PM in response to Valvofolifeby Jesse Melchior1,I just got the iPhone 4S about 2 1/2 weeks ago. It was working great, had no battery life problems at all, in fact, it was better than my iPhone 4. As soon as I upgrade to 5.1, battery life is terrible! If I charge my phone while I'm sleeping, and unplug it when I get up, by 10pm that night it is at about 10%, and I only used it for about 2 minutes to check an email. My iPhone used to be at like 90% at the same time of night if I didn't use it much that day. It's gotta be a software problem. Hopefully 5.2 will fix this.

Nov 23, 2011 4:43 PM in response to mtbeaulieuby aviate1,I updated my 4S to IOS 5.1 and it is eating my battery faster than ever! EVERYONE - set your calendar and reminders to exchange your iphone 4S 364 days (1 day short of a year) after you bought it to take advantage of the 1 year warranty! There is power in numbers, don't let it pass!

Nov 23, 2011 5:40 PM in response to aviate1by kl01,i have ALWAYS had the battery issue and althought yours was a good point - i can't stand it anymore. that means mine is probably a hardware problem coz i have had the problem since purchase. i guess i just have to change it now.
