I upgraded my new iPhone 4s today and now my battery life is so much worse. I can literally watch it drain by the minute. Is anyone else experiencing this?
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1
No not even close. My 4S battery wasnt that bad to begin with but after updating to 5.0.1, i can see that the battery meter stays in the upper 90% ranges far longer. Before it would drop from 100% to 90% pretty quick, and then drain slower from there on.
iOS 5.0.1 was a great update as far as my battery usage goes! Way to go Apple!
I am, I watched it drop from 76 to 73 in a matter of minutes. NOTHING IS RUNNING. 5.0.1 made my battery worse.
I'm in the much better camp-- I'd say a good 25-50% improved.
I stopped having problems with 5.0 after I did a restore. 5.0.1 just made what was already good that much better.

What's funny is my battery was not this bad before the update. Weird. I'm hope draining it and charging it a few times helps...
I just did a full factory restore so we'll see what happens. But for now, it seems like this restore has made my battery life much, much worse. I'm so disappointed!
I'm on an iPhone 4 and I've gone from 100% to 83% in less than an hour I'm running on wifi no locations running and I've disabled almost all notifications. I'm using push email and it worked ok in 5 now on 5.0.1 it's awful! Just typing this I'm down to 81%!
I updated it to 5.0.1 last night, and this morning had a test after 100% battery charged. But what I saw was the battery problem wasn't solved, and it was even worse. I was on Safari and Settings for 20 mins, battery drops 14%. This was worse than 5.0 when I was using Battery Doctor Pro supporting my 4s. I haven't used restoring after the update, but I will try to see if it will solve the problem. But at the moment, 5.0.1 is so disappointing.
Updated the software "fix". Phone is been on for 3 hours after charging to 100% overnight. I have sent 2 text messages and opened 1 email. Down to 85% and falling. NOTHING is running in the background. Help?
Oh yes. In 35 minutes of reading this forum on my phone, my battery has dropped 5%. What a mess.
My battery life is definitely worse after the upgrade!
Did the 5.01 update OTA, turned my phone on at 7:00am...wifi is active and I get tons of email with and audible and vibrating alert...
Started at 100% at 7:00am, as I type this battery is down to 84% with no phone calls made just a little browsing and email...wifi active...
Is this a little better than what I was experiencing prior to the update? Yes.... But...
So I did a full reset and restore last night, and it didn't help. My battery is still draining at alarming rates. I use my cellphone as my primary means of communication for my business and this is making the phone almost worthless.
This is just crazy, I literally can see my battery drain 2-3% in less than 5 minutes, with nothing runing... I hope there's a fix soon, else I will have to take this thing back to the store. I'm sure the unboxed, new iphones are still on the origina liOS5
