when can i buy iphone 4s unlocked in us?

It sure seems like Apple doesn't care about the little guy in the US. I can buy an unlocked 4S in many countries around the world but not in the US! You would think that a US company would take care of us first....but I guess like so many other corporate decisions it's all about the money! At this point....a third of the way through November...they could at least give us a date when we could order one!

Just my two cents on this... I guess it's not a matter of Apple not caring about the little guy in the US. It's more about the laws in place for each country. I am pretty sure that if Apple wasn't obligated by law to sell those iPhones unlocked in those markets, they would not, specially due to pressure from local mobile carriers. I would say that Apple now cares more about the US than other markets because they are not forced by law to sell unlocked iPhones and they still have plans to do so.

I am certain that is not the case. I live in the UK and it was only a year or 2 ago that Apple began selling iphones unlocked once they became available on most of the networks. there is no law which states that they must be sold unlocked because they were only sold locked for quite a while with the earlier versions.

Actually 2072, Ricardo didn't say that law applied to the UK. He just said that's the case in many other countries, which is true for France and many others. Orange in France has been selling the iPhone unlocked since its original release. In any case, Walaa, you can now order the iPhone 4s Unlocked from the online US apple store.

I wanted to order the 16g 4s online and you can order online and it takes about a week to two weeks shipping, the arrival dates 30 - 9 if you order it now. I would have thought that you should be able to buy it from the store but no, people want the phone for Christmas as gifts but alas it won't happen. I though the Apple site said that they had moved up the date for releasing the unlocked 4s to late November.

Yeah I wish they were selling them in the stores too. You can always take the trip to Canada and buy them.
