After upgrading to 5.0.1 my iPhone is draining the battery even faster! Anyone else seeing this problem?
The battery drain on my iPhone 4s has gotten much worse since updating to 5.0.1. I was concerned before, but now it's pretty bad. Full charge to 92% in less than an hour on stand-by, after that I can almost watch it drain under normal use. It's also getting very hot during use.
Looking on the bright side, the battery life of my iPad has improved dramatically since updating to 5.0. I appreciate that things of this nature will happen along the way, and that Apple will resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Though it is an inconvenience for some to have to charge during the day, remember all of the other great things your phone does for you.
I had the same problem when i woke up this morning. I downloaded the update yesterday and my battery life was at 96% when I woke ip and unplugged it.
I got the 4s when it first came out and its battery life was slightly shorter than my 4. Now with 5.0.1 it is better than my 4 was.
I wonder why different units are behaving differently. Maybe a hardware issue since they're all running the same software?
I totally agree. This new patch made it more worse. My bat is draining faster then ever. Also all my apps apps r crashing. Is there a way to downgrade
Luckily I haven't been experiencing malfunctions (knock on wood) HOWEVER my battery life has NOT improved with the update. For example, my phone was fully charged (100%) and removed from the charger 45 minutes ago. I've been checking some emails & replying to some texts and watching the battery life drain by the minute. It's drained 15% in 45 minutes. In my opinion I was expecting a better battery life than this. Yesterday was my first full day with the update. I began the day with a full charge. With normal usage throughout the day (not excessive and not just letting it sit on standby) I ended the day (14 hours) at 18%. This is worse battery life than my 2 year old Blackberry that I just hocked! I couldn't wait to get a new phone because my Blackberry battery life sucked and 4s is even worse! When my Blackberry was new, the battery lasted for at least 2 days before needing a charge. And don't get me wrong, I am NOT hyping Blackberry. It had it's perks as a business phone but that was it. Apps never ran smooth. The more apps you had the worse the phone performed. I'm not sure if the 4s battery life issue counts as a fair trade however. It's pretty bad. Oh yea, PS I'm now at 80% having finished typing this post.
OTA update went fine on both a Verizon 4 and a Sprint 4S...unplugged my Sprint iPhone 4S this morning and it had only charged to 97%...it has already lost 3% just laying on the table with no activity (no calls, no surfing, no emails, no text, no nothing)...I am going to run the battery completely down and recharge, but I am not very optimistic...
I am very frustrated! I updated my iPhone 4 and had no problem with battery life before and now while looking up the problem on the Internet this morning, my battery has drained 5% in 13 minutes. At this rate I will have to charge my phone in less than 5 hours. This is ridiculous! Has anyone heard if Apple has a response to this? Will restoring help?
3 hours and 40 mins usage and now have 18% remaining since updating !!
I think someone who have this problem is using a JB iphone. Because there are more and more the others have no problem with the 4S battery. My 4S just dropped only 1% in about 2-3 hours in standby. And I use 3G 24/24, never turn it off. 100% beginning from 9AM and it dropped to 15% to 8PM yesterday. I called totally about 1 hour, played about 1.5 hour with Storm 8 game, sometimes used Siri and Foursquare, played music...all of these are used in 3G, not Wifi.
No jailbreak is available for the 4S. Only 4 and earlier can be, and even the 4 is a tethered at this point. Your theory is invalid.
How do you revert to 4.6 or whatever? that seems to be the only fix.
if not by using JB, then we have no idea why this problem is happenning to somebody, and the others have no. all iphone 4Ss have the same battery, right?
Iphone 4, 5.0.1 updated OTA.
My battery consumption: 90 minutes, still on 99% I keep you posted.
Turned off iCloud Sync for Apps and Data, System Location Services is on only for Compass Calibration and Traffic. WiFi is on, Push is on.
3G is unavailable here.
Also did some iMessage texting.
Let's see in a couple of hours...
my iphone 4s updated ios 5.0.1 has problems with battery (even worse than ios 5.0: my old iphone 4 was better), it last maximum 5 hour with just 40 minute conversation....it also has problem with conctact names shown as ID caller...they are sometimes wrong!!: when i receive a call my iphone 4s doesn't show the name registered in contacts...but just random numbers........i am getting angry and frustaded..!!!..
any one have my same problem????...pls tell it to APPLE ....thank you everybody from Italy .. 0039 328 7180998
I am not a happy camper either my battery is down 10% from sitting on the table in standby for two and half hours hours. I really beleive this cannot be changed by any apple tweaks. Fact is they reduced the standby time from 300 hours to 200 hours, a substantial difference. I think the lower standby time is a drastic change which most people are witnessing before their eyes since upgrading to the 4s. It's got the battery life of an android now.
