5.0.1 update--even worse battery life

After upgrading to 5.0.1 my iPhone is draining the battery even faster! Anyone else seeing this problem?

My battery is also draining really quickly, the 5.0.1 update has made no difference. When location services for the auto time zone are turned on the location services sign also stays on constantly (this hasn't been fixed), so i've truned that off, again. Also, when i unplug my iphone from a full charge (despite having completely drained the battery) on numerous occasions it has gone from from 100% to 92% immediately, sometimes more. Anyone else having these problems?

I must agree. My battery life is worse. If you do the math for something such as surfing on wifi.. It's about 5.4 percent per hour. I'll give them anoth 2-3 for housekeeping ( very generous if standby is 200 hours). I'm losing about 15 -20 % an hour. I kind of feel like a person going in for. New car and looking at the sticker mpg "18 city 28 highway" and I'm getting an average of 12 mpg :(. I also have A feeling they don't have the right personally on this since the higher level engineers are working on iPhone 5. If they punish specs they should be able to come close to meeting them. Not " well you should disAble this and that and this" and you'll be close :(. I can smell a class action if this is not taken care of soon. I came from android. And that piece of cr$p hAd better life than this. Of course there are a lot more things going.... But please. I feel like I was suckered.

One thing they did fix is the music playback quality. iOS 5.0 had horrible sound in headphones with no bass and barely any low mids. At least that was fixed.

Kind of disappointed. c'mon apple. Get some of you're principals in this issue!

Ditto to those who've had awful battery life after updating. I have the iPhone 4, and it was fine with iOS 5. After the update, however, the battery life got worse and worse. This morning, after having drained & charged the battery overnight and then checking an email, I'm down to about 60 percent after less than two hours, almost all of it on standby. Apple should allow us to roll back to the first version of iOS 5.

Just for the record.

After the 5.0.1 update my iPhone 4 battery life is worse....in fact it was fine after the 5.0.0 update.

My iPad (1st generation) lost it's battery life after the 5.0.0 update....and after the 5.0.1 update...it seems worse!!! With the last version of ios 4 my iPad had an amazing bettery!!! I could go for days without recharging. Now I get a day.... if I'm lucky.

Plus I am loosing loads of power while in sleep mode....on both iphone and ipad.

I understand there can be bugs.....it happens. Just fix it!

Oh...and I have turned off ALL extras....so no iCloud....no notifications...nothing....just the basics. Didn't help.

I have the same problem. I noticed that it is particularly bad when location service was running such as if you have recently installed a new app that needs your location and it actively polls for it "purple arrow". I lost 5% in 5 minutes of use. Afterward it seemed the problem persisted even after I rebooted. Normal browsing and texting brought me down at a % for every 2 or 3 minutes.

Apple please fix this for real!

To all who are having this issue...i had the same problem for the last few days...my battery was loosing power like by 75% in few hours..i was really annoyed and wanted to do something.....what i did..is hard reset all setting after i have done the IOS 5.1 update....then i connect to itues via my mac and restore from the backup.....now i only lost 2%...battery in like 45 minutes..which is impressive....try this ppl...it really works....you will see the difference

I have the 4s and before updating to 5.0.1 I didn't think my battery was too bad....it drained a little quicker than I'd liked so I updated....now it's draining too fast! However, my iPad, which I also updated, doesn't seem to be having the same issue. Weird. I did have one question though that I hope someone can answer. If I disable all of the features on the iCloud except the "find my iPhone" feature, will I get better results, or...it doesn't matter, having the iCloud on will drain it the same amount no matter how many features I use (if that makes sense).

p.s. my iPhone just dropped 2% in the last 30 seconds I've been sitting here. It was at 89 and I looked a few seconds later and it was at 87....guess it forgot how to count but something is definitely wrong with this update. 😟

Again simple solution peeps...first take a backup in ur pc...then upgrade ot IOS 5.1..if you already have it...then go to settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings...then reset..it wont delete anything from your phone it will just reset...then backup from your pc....i mean restore from the backup....it should improve significantly....its working for me....it lost 4% battery in the last one hour so for..i talked, txt, fb...stanby...email...games....its going fine now.....try it to see if its work for you

Well, seriously, if they are coming out with an update this week, I might wait but im really not sure. However, hopefully when the new update comes out, it will take into account those who have not updated. God only knows at this point. I will say that the update went very smoothly for me. This morning I checked one email and its down 2% in thirty minutes. I don't think that's too bad but I'm not sure anymore. After the update I did a reset new phone, let the battery drain and and then charged it overnight.

Hmmm..knowing myself, I'd probably try the update. It's not like the phone is rendered useless. But I would do the reset too. Hope that helps!
