Well, I've done what someone else suggested:

- hard reset

- restore from backup

- restore as new iPhone

- full charge

- let it full discharge

- full charge using Battery Doctor app

And now my phone's reporting 100% battery still after 25 minutes of not being connected to a charger. It was previously losing 1% a minute whilst idle. Will see how it goes overnight.

I think I've traced my issue to having my exchange (msuits) calendar enabled! When turned off battery seems respectable and what it should be however switch it on and it starts heading south fast!! Anyone els3 experiencing this?

I've tried restore and set- up as new, tried trickle charging etc etc however when turning msuite calendar on it's a drainer!!

Got my 4s last week. Battery life on ios5 wasn't great but still okayish...now after update it's definitely worse!

2 nights ago i charged the phone...but it got 'stuck' on 93 % and wouldn't charge further. After unplugging i closed all apps etc...after 24 hours i'm now down to 22%. This is standby only except for taking 6 screenshot.

The weird thing is, that under 'usage' it says 24 hrs of standby and 19 hrs of usage?!? But no apps were running except for the phone app...and i didn't make or receive any calls at all ( new number)!

Before updating, the info for standby and usage would always be the same amount which is also impossible...

So i think theres something seriously wrong there...

Will try to do a factory reset tonight...

Hi

I'm an Iphone 4 user

FYI

i've had battery drain issues happen to me before although this thread and my recent experience seems to point to the recent IOS 5.0.1 update

Anyway, previously i had to do what hotphil suggested above after going to the genius bar.

the battery was swapped out to no avail. the issue can be caused when you have a S/W fault that is stored in the back up also.

Note: -performing reset as new phone and then syncing results in any game play history being lost.

I'm hoping this approach will not be the answer to those currently experiencing the battery drain issue. Mine was 100% at 6.30 am today now at 45% with minimal usage.

God help me if i have to re-do every level of angry birds again.

I've got an iPhone 4 and noticed a significant degradation of battery life after the 5.0.1 update (watching the percentage number get smaller and smaller in a very short period of time).

Last night I followed the advice of davidch as recommended here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3484755?start=0&tstart=0 -- first I did a reset through the Reset All Settings (under Settings/General). Then I went through the default setup as Set Up New Phone. I had to reconnect to Wifi, reset alarms, etc, but did NOT lose any apps or game settings.

I then let the battery drain to empty (to the point where the screen goes blank and the phone shuts itself off), then recharged overnight to 100%.

So far today (phone has been operating for four hours -- I've been checking emails, looking at web pages and such) I'm seeing much, much better battery life. Fingers crossed.

I continue to experience total battery depletion in approximately 4 hours. This is post update. I've tried all the fixes except a total reset which I hope I don't have to as I don't own a computer and will have to use an external harddrive and borrow a laptop to restore my music collection. (Where ARE you iMatch!)

I did notice that when I awoke today that my phone would ot fully charge. I have een using an App called Battery Magic and it's set up to only keep a log when you charge from under 20% to full...and you can bet...I want my logs! that said, since I had tried most other remedies, I removed the app and I had planned on re-loading it but I noticed my 97% clicked up to 98% so I waited, and finally it reached 100% charge! I make no claims of association between the two, rather I'm just reporting what happened. I'm going to leave the battery app off for ow and check my times.e
