5.0.1 update--even worse battery life

Add me to the list of those with poorer battery life after the upgrade to iOS5.0.1. I have an iPhone 4, from Verizon, and had been getting really good battery life under iOS4 and iOS5. Once I updated to iOS5.0.1 my battery life drains at an extremely rapid pace. I figured this update was suppose to help battery life, so why not upgrade? I was wrong.

I sure hope Apple fixes this sooner rather than later because it's ridiculous how fast my battery is draining. I used to be able to go 48-60 hours (under my normal usage) between charges, now I'm lucky if I get 24 hours. I haven't changed any settings on my phone, just upgraded the OS.

Aykay it is a software bug. It's been confirmed by loading 2 different downloads of 5.0.1 on the same phone.

Same thing: when in standby mode it loses 3% of battery every hour!

Strangest thing is that the 1st night I only lost 5% in 10 hours, which seems about right to me... But then during the day something happens (maybe a process hangs) and now it's back to losing 30% in 10 hours...

So any update on when Apple is going to fix this bug? and i cant believe a company that had such a high standard in all their products released so far will issue an update that has a bug in it!!!!

Same Issue. iPhone 4S, battery was ok before, after 5.0.1 WAY worse!

I had NO battery problems with iPhone 4S and iOS5. Now, after upgrading to 5.0.1 battery is draining rapidl. What has Apple done? Also had trouble getting a signal over the weekend and usually have a better signal than anyone. Is anyone else experiencing network problems? I am trying to revert back to 5.0.

The press is reporting this as an issue that only affects a small percentage of users and supposedly none of the tech mags could produce the problem.

You can't downgrade. Wait for 5.0.2 in a week that will address the remaining battery issues

Same here. I'm on iPhone 4, everything ok on iOS 5.0, but now I can almost watch the battery drain. Without reading all 44 pages, has anyone noticed that their phone is getting hot whilest charging since the update. After updating I left my charging over night, I picked it up to see what the time was and the phone was really hot and it had been on charge for ages and seemed to get stuck at 75% I unplugged it and let it cool down. When I plugged it back in, it charged quite quickly to 100%. Hasn't been the same since, it can only be the updated...

Again, where have you been told that a fix is coming? And that soon?

Heck when my battery is draining fast the phone gets hot even when not on the charger.

I don't remember the site, but the statement came directly from Apple. Did you actually bother to Google search it?

A fix is coming. Apple wouldn't let this thing get that much publicity. Apple has 65,000 employees. Do you think the problem has just skipped those 65,000 people and no one knows?

i recently got my iPhone 4 replaced about 2 weeks ago so the battery on the unit is fairly new . i was wasn't having any of the battery draining issues stated in the OP. every since i updated to 5.0.1 my battery life is horrible . it drops about 5% every hour on standby. how do they come out with a update that supposedly fixes battery life issues but makes them worse ? .

I have the same issue after downloading the 5.01 update. Battery life has drastically diminished. Phone turns OFF at 20%!!!!!!!!!!!! It took 4 EVER to download and backup this thing.. I'm rather upset.
