5.0.1 update--even worse battery life
After upgrading to 5.0.1 my iPhone is draining the battery even faster! Anyone else seeing this problem?

I don't have Microsoft Exchange that I know of and my battery life is awful after upgrading. I can go from 100 to 20 in just 2-3 hours. Help Apple!
Waiting for an Apple announcement, the speculation, and reccomended work arounds hardly apply to the many users experiencing this issue.
I have the same problem. The battery on the new 4s drains noticeably quicker after installing 5.0.1 . It wasn't very good before the update (I had it done to 20% at 6pm every day after the moderate usage), but now I have to charge the phone so I have some charge left for my trip back home.
Same here: after installing 5.0.1 on my iPhone4 I lose around 10% an hour in stand by. And at one point I did notice it was heated up... everything was fine on 5.0.
Pretty surprised to have ended the day with 6 hrs 13 mins usage and 19hrs 36 mins standby. Didnt expect that. This battery draining isn't affecting me like I originally thought. Those are good numbers to me.
Yep, chalk up another user. I thought it was just me but my battery usage is definitely worse since going from 5.0 to 5.0.1
Yeah add me and my wife too, Updated to 5.0.1 on both phones still experiencing fast abattery drainage and my wifes 3gs the cell signal went to crap. kept searching for signal. Went to AT&T and they swaooed out the sim card thinking maybe that was an issue but that didnt fix itm So now I'm doing a restore to it to see if that fixes it.
I'm having issues, too. I just got the phone on Sunday (and didn't get it working until Monday...long story), so I can't say if it was the update specifically, but last night when I went to bed it was more than halfway charged, and when I got up I received the 10% warning. I charged it up to 78% before going to work at 8 am, and it dwindled to 0% by 3:30 pm. During that time, I was listening to music in Spotify over wi-fi, and that's about it. After the phone shut off, I've been slooooowly charging it, and it's at 33% right now. I upgraded from the 3GS, so I'm used to charging a lot, but I didn't expect this at all!
Hey guys,
I got a call today from a really cool guy at AppleCare -- he said they saw my post in this forum, and wanted to talk to me about my usage. I was on the phone with him for 20 or so minutes, and they installed a battery life logger on my phone. They're basically analyzing my usage and are really trying to get to the bottom of this. They're working on it, be patient! 🙂
I have both an iphone 4 and a 4s. The iPhone 4 does not have E-mail setup on it. It used to last 2 - 3 days on little use. It is Sprint so it came with iOS5. I just updated it Sunday to iOS5.01 and now It will not last a day and will get down to under 20%. I don't have WIFI on, but I do pair it with an Xlink gateway bluetooth device and it is connected all the time. Again no issues before update. It looks like bluetooth keeps looking for connections so I wonder if that is draining the battery even though it has 1 connection. I only have a few apps on the iPhone 4. I have not updated 4s phone yet as I get pretty decent battery life and don't want to ruin that until an update come out.
Unplugged 7 hours 11 minutes on Standby 3 hrs 2 minutes usage. 47% Not bad, but not breaking any records either.
Update - I fully changed my iPhone 4 a little over 2 hours ago. I am showing usage of 15 minutes and standby of 2 hours. My battery % is now listed at 87% from 100%. Hope this helps Apple find the issue as I really like my devices...
Same issue here....iPhone 4 with Verizon...I have had zero issues with battery life. I upgraded to iOS 5 with no issues. On Sunday I updated to iOS 5.0.1 and i can't even make it until noon and my battery dies. This is unbelievable that Apple would release this update with this kind of issue. I used to use my phone all day, talk, e-mail, text, listen to music, what ever i needed to do and i could go 1-2 days without charging. As of yesterday I can almost watch my battery go down by the minute. Apple needs to fix this ASAP.
Also, my phone is now constantly warm...this could be unsafe.
On another note, can i downgrade back to iOS 5??
I also got a call from someone at AppleCare who saw my post in this forum... Apple take this situation very seriously and i am sure they will find a solution. However, i no more have problem on my side.
After updating, i friend notice that lots of apps he removed previously from the notification center where back... so i realise the situation was the same for me. So i removed Facebook and other apps from the notification center... i guess this is not the key to this problem but for sure use a lot of energy if all apps are on the notification center. However, i did not removed everything because i love the notification center.
So after reading other comments on Apple forum, i finally did a hard reset and then my problem was solved. Baterry was immediately normal after the hard reset. Previously my iPhone was working for 12 - 16 hours. Now with a full charge i can almost use it for 2 days (34 - 38 hours). As someone also recommended, i have wait my battery to be at 1% before i plugged my iPhone for a full charge (100%).
Alessis, just go ahead and let the phone turn off by itself. Then charge it all the way up.
