Is there any way to go back to the original version and not use this update. My battery was actually working pretty good BEFORE the new update.

My 4S has been flawless on both 5.0 amd 5.0.1. Black 64g. I couldn't be happier. I'm coming off a DroidX. The 4S carries a charge far longer than the Motorola. I did have a glitch connecting with iCloud. But that turned out to be user error. I can't see myself ever going back to Android. The 4S dovetails so nicely with my Macbook. I'm very pleased. Sorry to see so many disgruntled users. This is how I felt with the Anrdroid.

Just purchased the 4S on Sprint along with two others and two iPhone 4 models on Sprint family plan.  Wednesday was the first full day of use.  First I am very impressed with Sprint... they covered my area very well.  Downloading Apps over 3G was no problem.  It's my first iPhone and I love the features.  The battery life has been an issue.  With a full charge in the morning and moderate use through the day I had to turn off location services to retain enough power in case any calls came in on the last leg of a long drive.  Day two, Thanksgiving, started the day with the 5.0.1 update, turned off most location services and cell data - only used WiFi all day.  With what I'd consider moderate use again it was down to 30% power mid day so I recharged and am down to 13% same night (though indeed a bit late).  The other two 4S models are still on 5.0 but seem to have equivalent battery drain to mine.  One of them was not even ported to Sprint yet the first day and still had 70% drainage on day 1.  We are going to wait for the next update but won't rest easy until we are getting ample standby time on a single charge.

Just to clarify, one of the 4s models had not ported to Sprint yet, with a full charge in the morning it lost 70% power on Standby with no usage all day.

    TO APPLE and APPLE LOVERS....

I cannot believe so many people are reporting the same problem on the forum. why is APPLE or SATSUMA more apt name, doing something about this. Keepingsilent is not professional. You know there is a problem, so FIX the F******G problem and tells when we might expect a fix.

And why are the die hards saying its only a software problem... If you purchased a car and the engine wasnt working, you woulndt say oh its only an engine problem....

Dont let people think of of  you worse than you.. or may be you really are that bad. With soo much money in your bank account you cannot be bnothhered to oull your finger out an dget your hi tech geeks to fix this proble,.

    OR

Alterntivley give us a path back to a previous version 5.0.0

ITS NOT APPLE SCIENCE is it!!!!

IF the issue is truly only affecting a small amount of people AND they have learned from this issue handling this in the press or public domain would make things worse for them than they may deserve. However if it is more wide apread and they haven't learned the right lessons from this then that will just make things much worse.  It's a shame when it happens but sometimes taking a huge public beating forces leaders to do their jobs. Of course Any leader who needed that push needs to be let go anyway.  As I have said this is a cultural and leadership issue and root cause not a technical one.

Hmm yeah. I agree with you. Im not worrying about it anymore. I got a refund on the phone. I didnt find the phone as appealing as it was on the site. It was costing me a bucketload when it came to just being idle, nothing was costing me money.. Plus the battery issue, I dont even know what I was thinking when I said give them time. I've only had it for 4 days and Im really just not happy. I dont even want it anymore. So refund it is. For now at least

I think someone in here suggested factory reset the phone and restore everything. I have the 4. If we base on the original stastic 15% per hour rate of battery usage, I did my last night, 1 hour and half later, down by 8%. Not sure if there is any improvement over everybody's?

I know for a fact its a software problem. I was using iOS 5.0 on my iPhone 4 that I have had over a year an and never had the battery problem everyone else was having. I updated to iOS 5.0.1 and now my phones battery is draining like a sieve. There is no doubt its a bug in the firmware causing the problem.

I have tried several things from draining the battery to resetting all the settings to deleting all my apps to turnIng e wry thing off except the basics. What I have is a glorified iPod touch. This is my first iPhone. I have owned several iPods and have never had a issue with any of them. The thing that gets me is there is no information coming from Apple about the issue. I have yet to hear them say they are aware that the issue is still out there since the update. If this is affecting a small amount of people, why not trade out their phones for new ones. It leads me to believe this is more widespread than they are willing to let anyone know. I am on my second 4s and still have the worse drainage of any battery on a cell phone I have had. And that is saying a lot coming from an android phone. I get approximately 4 hrs of usage on my phone before I have to charge the battery. Apple needs to get off their ***** and either fix the problem or put out a recall for these substandard product.

    Morning David,

I attempted to follow the steps you indicated above but did not get a choice/option to set up as a new phone. Only icloud, wifi, apple id, terms conditions, location. I may be missing something very obvious but I'd appreciate some help. Thank you

    ishpta ->
I updated because I thought since they said it was fixed, it could'nt hurt. I wanted to do it because I needed to "tweek" it again and wanted to have the latest firmware. I thought they finished it but I guess its still a beta in some form. It what I get for trying to fix what was not broken .

My 4s is currently at 23 hours after moderately heavy use with 5.0.1. The battery meter is at 39%. The phone is at factory settings except messaging is sent to push. This Is very typical among my friends and work colleagues with 4 and 4s. I won't instal 5.0.2 until I see others having favorable results. I've never been more pleased with a phone and want to keep that way.
