Nov 11, 2011 10:24 AM in response to Morbo42by Sarge01,Exact same problem here! Unplugging after over night full charge was enough to lower battery to 98% and after that it went fast.
Take note: Almost EVERYTHING that uses power is switched off. No programs running in multitask, location services off, bluetooth off, wifi off, notifications off etc etc. The only thing thats on is Find my Iphone, although I am getting doubts if I do want to find my iphone when it is gone!
It's like apple is telling us: "You want a battery problem??? We will give you one! Update to 5.0.1. and you will have what you wish for. Now stop nagging."
Now my battery drains only by looking at my Iphone 4S. It was good for the first few days when it was new and after that it went wrong, but the new update seems to ruin it all.
I regret that I always want the newest gadget.
- Navigation software does not work anymore.
- Bluetooth pairing problems (pairing is good but not able to make calls or recieve them).
- Battery problem.
- Low memory problem -> Crashing apps.
(- I still believe that there is also a antenna problem. When a page does not load because of slow connection I hold it with just 2 fingers and it loads.)
Nice one! But hey I do have Siri, oh no that does not help me in the Netherlands since it can not search for items there.

Nov 11, 2011 10:27 AM in response to art_in_motionby jemlunchbox,Same problem here. I was having battery problems before with my iPhone 4s, but I had them under a bit of control with turning off location services and such. Updated to 5.0.1 yesterday as I was excited to use my iPhone as it's meant to be used, with the features offered to me. I have only listened to music for about an hour today and I am down to 83% from a full charge just 3 hours ago. This is a mobile device. I shouldn't have to be tethered to a computer all day just to keep a charge on my phone.

Nov 11, 2011 10:32 AM in response to art_in_motionby ChiTownStateFan,Same problem. Battery life was fine with update to iOS 5 on Iphone 4. Updated to 5.0.1 yesterday and battery life is significantly worse.
Is this just a display change? Is there any way to revert back? Just bought my wife a 4S yesterday- bad decision?

Nov 11, 2011 10:34 AM in response to art_in_motionby font9a,Yes! I have this problem. I updated my iPhone 4 16GB which had previously *no* battery issues -- and now I see it dropping 10% in 40 minutes with virtually no activity.
I am resetting the settings to see if that might help.

Nov 11, 2011 10:37 AM in response to art_in_motionby d a r i o,I updated to 5.0.1 yesterday and my battery life tanked. It was better before I updated. Since this (4S) is my first iPhone I don't know how long the battery life should really be, but my phone drained about 75% of its life in a few hours. I also noticed poor 3G connections where at one time was very good. I also noticed a couple of my apps acting unresposive. Not sure if it's related to the updated ios.
Anyone know if there is an easy way to go back to 5.0 without reformatting the phone.

Nov 11, 2011 10:43 AM in response to ChiTownStateFanby alexfromcologne,I downgraded 10 hours ago by setting the iPhone into DFU Mode. You need to download iOS5 before, then do a restore with iTunes by clicking ALT and restore at the same time. Then choose the path to your iOS5 download and here we go. It works as long as the iOS 5 is still signed from apple.
EDIT: iOS 5 isnt signed anymore, means it wont work....

Nov 11, 2011 10:41 AM in response to art_in_motionby Bill Betournay,6 hours, competely dead after update and full charge. neither took or placed any calls, sent a few texts, received several emails. All but two location services are off. This is totally not exceptable. Even BLACKBERRY is better than this. This being the most expensive phone on the market it friggin well should work as advertised. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to advertise something for sale that you aren't/can't deliver. I think it's called fraud. With a name like Apple, you'd think someone would want to protect the reputation, not kill it. Two failed phone launches in a row. Can you fix this please....
