I am not a happy camper either my battery is down 10% from sitting on the table in standby for two and half hours hours. I really beleive this cannot be changed by any apple tweaks. Fact is they reduced the standby time from 300 hours to 200 hours, a substantial difference. I think the lower standby time is a drastic change which most people are witnessing before their eyes since upgrading to the 4s. It's got the battery life of an android now.

Original iPad having worse battery life since updating to 5.0.1. I usually test iOS updates on my iPad prior to installing on my iPhones.

I now have a 4S with no battery issues at all. Needless to say, I intend on keeping it that way by not updating to 5.0.1.

The failures just keep coming. As a loyal Apple user, I am now getting very disillusioned.

    I have 2 new theories ...

Yesterday, my iphone 4 completely drained after very, very little usage.

Last night I turned off iCloud and did a full charge.

This morning, I'm still at 99% after 15 minutes of reading email via wifi.  That's more like it.

So, either iCloud is the culprit or Apple really screwed up the algorithm that calculates remaining battery level.

I wonder if the estimated remaining charge will automatically improve after a few full discharge/recharge cycles?

Anyway, if others begin to see improvement after a the 1st day's horror show, please post to give others hope.

I'm going to keep iCloud off for the moment.

I too on both my phone and my wife's phone are getting about 4 - 4 1/2 hours of usage time over 20 hours.  We used to get almost 36 hours standby time with about 5 1/2 to 6 hours of usage time on 5.0.

Apple, stop rushing software out and fix the problem.  Already talked to AT&T about returns and going to a different handset.  Apple used to have the most taleneted software development team.  WHAT HAPPENED?!?!

turning off all push notifications, location services, wifi, etc. is unacceptable. these are all features that make the iphone a must-have gadget.

my iphone 4 with iOS 4 got spectacularly good battery life, even with all services turned on. i noticed a substantial drop in battery life upon upgradign to the 4S (with the 4, after a day of normal use, it would have around 75 percent battery life when i plugged it in at night. with the 4S and the same usage, i have about 35 percent when i plug it in at night). now, i'm "upgrading" to 5.0.1, and after reading this thread, i'm worried it will be even worse.

the bottom line is, this significant drop in battery life is unacceptable.

My 4S battery life was not great but not as bad as many reported.  After the update, I'm losing about 15% per hour with little to no useage.  C'mon Apple, you can do better than that!

Ditto! Before iOS5 upgrade yesterday, I was very happy with my battery life. Now it is markedly worse. I have turned off everything I could. It's so bad that despite the other improvements I wish I could change back. Apple PLEASE fix!!!

Activated new 4s on Tuesday. No battery life problem on Wed or Thurs. Woke up Fri to alert on phone that 5.0.1 was available. Downloaded and installed OTA. Now I have a battery life problem. Multiple charges on Friday. Charged overnight and woke up Sat AM to a 99% battery indicator. Less than an hour of light usage and now at 88%. This is unusable.

Such a disapointment Apple. I bought the iphone 4s with my hard earn money only to have to put up with this battery crap.

Apple said that they're fixed the battery bug in 5.0.1. To my dismay after installing the update, my battery life is now worsen.

I've mention this issue to all my friends and families.

They definitely staying away from your new iphone 4s product until this issue gets solve!

I installed the new software yesterday on my iPhone 4s and i have, for the first time, gone more than 24 hours without charging.   My phone is at 44% and I charged it last 26 hours ago.  I was charging every morning and again at night.

I have the same problem here.

I did not have any battery problem on my iphone 4s with ios 5. My Iphone used about 2% of battery over the night. Yesterday I updated to ios 5.0.1 and now I'm losing about a 10% during the night whithout any open application.

For me the best solution would be to "downgrade" to ios 5.

    Please, fix it.

I have followed a couple of suggestion listed in the string and I'm seeing better, not great, but better results.  The first thing I did was to hard reset (i.e. complete power down) wait a minute or two then power back on.  Second, completely charge the device, then let it discharge down to 5% or less, then fully charge again.

    Hope this helps!

Definitely went from bad to worse for me too. My phone will be 90% charged when I go to bed and completely dead in the morning. Hoping they get to the bottom of this and release a fix ASAP. Besides lack of convenience and frustration people need their phones in emergencies.
