Nov 14, 2011 6:27 AM in response to art_in_motionby svedish,I'm really confused now. The performances of the batteries seem to be so different according to many posts I've read. What I can say, if I can leave my two cents, is that last night and the night before I left the phone on standby both times for 10 hours and both times the phone lost 12% of the battery. To me that is not normal and I remember it would lose 10% before the software update. Needs to be sais that after the update I have the Location Setvices on. They were off on iOS 5.0.
Anyway, this is over 1% an hour on standby, which sounds definitely too much. Don't you agree? Thanks!

Nov 14, 2011 6:54 AM in response to art_in_motionby nikromatt,I'm going to reply so hopefully Apple will see how many are having issues.
My Sprint 4s is my first iphone and after having suffered on Andriod for a year, IOS is even more amazing to use. I was super impressed with my battery life, I was able to go 17 hours of heavy use before I would get the 20% percent low battery notice. And by heavy use, I mean calls, texts, pictures (Taken, Sent, Received), youtube, FB, Tumblr, Twitter, etc. All day, everyday.
Post 5.01 update, I'm desperatly seaching for outlets at 7 hours. I really hope there is fix soon. If I could back up to 5.0 I certainly would.

Nov 14, 2011 6:59 AM in response to art_in_motionby Jamming Apple,My battery life was just fine with iOS 5.0, but the annoying little notification to update my iphone annoyed me enough to do it... now my battery life is literally draining before my eyes and I have every feature turned off, min brightness and its on airplane mode. The battery goes from 100% to 80% in less than an hour!
This update made the issue much worse... thanks Apple

Nov 14, 2011 7:03 AM in response to art_in_motionby SlipStreamSVT,So after updating I am having an issue where constantly both the usage time and standby times are equally matched. here's a pic below. This is totally unacceptable as this is going to kill my battery. this contant rapid discharge/charge cycles will only make my battery last a year, if even that long.
Also, I think this so called fix from apple iOS 5.01 is a scam. it wasn't meant to fix battery issues, it was meant to patch a security fix. they just decided to tell us it was a fix so that it can "hopefully" please the masses for a while before more issues come up.

Nov 14, 2011 7:14 AM in response to Edo-ITAby slsdude,The same thing happened to my phone. Also, after a full night charge my phone will not charge past 97% and it is draining at 1% and hour.

Nov 14, 2011 7:15 AM in response to art_in_motionby Seattleinfo,ok...from fully charged to 75% (25%) used just surfing for 70 minutes. Is that what one should normally expect from an iphone 4s? Anybody ?

Nov 14, 2011 7:23 AM in response to art_in_motionby pbrayiii,Same problems as described by others- following install of 5.01 baterry drained n less than 2 hrs-- phone overheats- went to store- identified problem as software corruption, after wiping phone & reset to factory defaults, basic battery drain issues seem to be resolved, but now other compatibility issues-- cannot reinstall Lotus traveler- which is primary business reason for use of smart phone and therefore phone makes for a great ipod/mini browser but not much use or justification for daily business.

Nov 14, 2011 7:25 AM in response to art_in_motionby eyalco,I relized that when the phone is connected to WIFI or BLUETOOTH device, the drain is catastroffic. i ment, i dont need to turn off bluetoot or wifi. just not been connected.

Nov 14, 2011 7:28 AM in response to art_in_motionby gclobban,Seeing significant decrease in battery life after 5.0.1 update on iPhone 3GS. Casual useage to check mail, read news, and Facebook just kills it. I had acceptable life prior to the iOS 5.0.1 using iOS 4xx. I would revert in a hearbeat until things get sorted out. Anyone know if it is possible to go back to a prior rev?

Nov 14, 2011 7:30 AM in response to Seattleinfoby Matt Petruzzelli,It's not just the iPhone 4S. My iPhone 4 battery life was good before 5.0 and became bad after updating to 5.0. The new upgrade from last week made the battery life even worse :(

Nov 14, 2011 7:34 AM in response to xenoceaby jobic,Be realistics to certain point. IOS5 has more apps, 4S is faster with better screen. So don't you think it will use up more power? Just do not turn on everything that you do not need, that will help.

I updated my 4S from 5.0 to 5.0.1, and it did not change the battery performance a bit, until I reset the phone, minimize all unnecessary services, drain the battery dead and follow with a fully recharge (that is the proper way to use battery). It turns out much better and I consider as accepatable.
