Nov 15, 2011 7:44 AM in response to Ian Hodgsonby FortuneFades,I had rather good battery life with iOS 5.0 but I too am experiencing a noticable difference in battery life since I've updated to 5.0.1 First time I am actually disappointed with an apple product. I don't think I should be experiencing 15-20% drain in battery from no activity/20 minutes worth of listening to music. Hopefully there is a fix soon. (maybe throw in a free membership to the iTunes Match too )

Nov 15, 2011 7:59 AM in response to art_in_motionby Robert Charpentier,After doing the reset thing suggested by others and letting the battery run out twice, my battery performance has improved, but only marginally. I've also followed all the suggestions about what to turn off and I'm still getting worse performance than before the update to the new iOS. Yesterday, with moderate use, the battery went from 100% to 40%. Overnight it dropped to 32% - that's still a 1% loss per hour while in standby mode.
Others have posted that Apple will have a fix out in a couple of weeks - not sure if that's just rumor, speculation, or what, but obviously a bunch of us are very anxious for a fix.

Nov 15, 2011 8:09 AM in response to art_in_motionby wrendace,AAPLE YOUT BATTERY ***. I'VE HAD THE 3G, 4G AND NOW 4S AND I'VE NEVER HAD SUCH A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY UNTIL THE 4S. FIX THE PROBLEM OR YOU'LL LOOSE MANY CUSTOMERS. I'LL GET AN ANDROID. ATLEAST I CAN SWAP BATTERIES OUT IF THE OTHER DIES. THIS IS NONSENSE. FIX THE **** BATTERY PROBLEMS. CHARGED MY PHONE LAST NIGHT WENT TO BED AT 100% AND WOKE UP TO UNDER 80%. THIS IS GARBAGE AND I'LL CONTINUE TO POST UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. I SHUT DOWN WIFI,NOTIFICATION,SIRI ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF THAT WOULD DRAIN THE BATTERY AND STILL NOTHING.

Nov 15, 2011 8:09 AM in response to Robert Charpentierby Tmansar2,I did the whole reset as new phone thing too - battery lasted a little better during the day. Put the phone down last night at 10:30pm with 52% battery, and made sure no apps were running. At 5:00am, DEAD. HAd to plug in and charge 5 minutes just to get the dead battery symbol...
So - the reset thing is NOT a fix.

What the **** is the point of owning a phone that you cant use. My battery is draining while im sleeping, its not even use! UNBELIEVABLE apple, fix this. Its not acceptable.

Nov 15, 2011 9:10 AM in response to hilemanjeffby Evplanner,Apple called yesterday to see how my Iphone 4 was after the new ios5.0.1 update and I had just updated the night before so I couldn't say yet. Well, it is not any better than after I updated to 5.0. My battery just keeps going down.It is noon now and it was charged last night and it is down to 50% with only 1 phone call today. Need a fix for this apple! 5.0 has caused several difficulties but this one is the hardest hit.

Nov 15, 2011 9:16 AM in response to art_in_motionby harpatwal,So since my earlier post my battery life seems to have improved but still not at the levels it should be. I let it drain fully and did a full power charge. Since then battery doesnt drain as fast but still drops with not much use

Nov 15, 2011 9:20 AM in response to art_in_motionby Forgotten Rebel,Makes me laugh!
I'm still on 4.3.3 cause I know Apple ALWAYS screws up and treats there customers as beta testers. I've had evey iPhone since the first iphone ( because they are a brilliant idea and original concept). But, I have become wise to the real Apple way that only becomes clear after a lengthy time period. Yes, the product should work as described when released and when it does not Apple should and can be held legally liable to every customer but all apple iPhone users take it up the arse eveytime,( willingly for some reason iPhone after iPhone).
Thank god for stupid people as I need someone to go through **** with apples constant nightmare releases to make them usable by the time I am willing to trust the release version. Apple iphone and most of there customers are in an abusive relationship, but clearly, only Apple sees this!
Android may win after all, gotta admit i want FLASH and I'm sick of only getting HALF the Internet thru apple products!
Will 5.2.2 work properly? Hmm, doubt it. What's the incentive for Apple? There products get worse and worse ( as far as dependability goes) and even more fools buy even more products!

Nov 15, 2011 9:39 AM in response to art_in_motionby JazzNJava,My battery life on iPhone 4 was great - until the ios 5 release. Then I got an iPhone 4S and battery was worse than on the 4. Then the update came out and now I'm draining battery as if I were actively using the phone all day long, when in fact I'm barely using it at all. This is totally ridiculous. Like another user posted, the moment I unplug it in the morning I'm already down to 98% instead of 100%. I'm wondering if there's a way to revert back to the original ios 5 before the update. I've never been so frustrated by an Apple product in my life. I've turned off EVERYTHING on the phone that could run in the background or use battery while idle. But what's the point in having such a cool device if I can't use it?
SO FRUSTRATED!!!

Nov 15, 2011 9:46 AM in response to art_in_motionby mollib,Wow, I was hoping my even worse 5.0.1 battery life was just me but it's not I assume Apple rushed the update because there were so many people complaining--too bad it's made it even worse.
