Nov 19, 2011 4:55 PM in response to joycefrombridgeportby Bill71,I seem to be having the same problems with mine. From time to time it will just start heating up, even when it's just in standby and in my pocket. I get about 4 hours of battery life... I miss my iphone 4...

Nov 19, 2011 6:34 PM in response to TPevby HawgWyld,That's EXACTLY the point. Frankly, I'm not too worried about my iPhone 4's suddenly awful battery life as I'm due an updgrade in February. I'll go with an Android at that point -- a spec-heavy phone with a massive screen and 4G sounds like the way to go, anyway. I was in line to get an iPad 2. Looks like it's time to grab a Galaxy tab instead. If Apple doesn't want my money and my business, there are alternatives...

Nov 19, 2011 7:29 PM in response to HawgWyldby ramnath1,I have same heating problem. I have been given an iPhone4 as a company phone for emails and meetings and conference calls while on buisness.. My firtst 'i' product. Just upgraded after recieving it to 5.01. battery lasts only 4 hours and gets hot.. nothing installed on it. The best option for apple is to provide the 'revert' back to previous version'. I tried to go back to version 5 from 5.01 and it failed and then had to install 5.01 to get the phone working. 4 hours of battery life is CRAP. I have informed our I.T people not to issue any more iPhones, blackberry or something that is reliable would do.
SO this is the best Phone on the market eh?????

Nov 19, 2011 7:52 PM in response to MiiiikeTby HawgWyld,Launch iTunes and plug phone into computer (or, plug in so iTunes will auto launch). Then, click on phone and you will find "sync with iTunes over wi-fi" (or something like that) in the summary screen. Uncheck that and you're done.

Nov 19, 2011 8:18 PM in response to art_in_motionby Aaron Bur,My 4 will show 23% battery and then total shut off due to low battery life. Just like it was at 1% it will shut down. When I plug in the power cord it starts to reboot and then the power meter is back to 23%. It stated doing this the install of IOS 5.

Nov 19, 2011 8:28 PM in response to art_in_motionby eXcidius,In itunes you can shift click the restore button to manually install firmware. But recently Apple decided to non-sign everything but 5.0.1. They only have to spend a minute of their time to set it back up so we can use 5.0 pr earlier again. But they choose to keep us stuck with our battery killing versions. I too lost a lot of respect with apple because of this. I hope you all know fast draining batteries like this is unhealthy, we'll probably need a replacement batter by the end of the year now, Just fom the damage it's doing.

Nov 19, 2011 9:23 PM in response to art_in_motionby KLev-DC,Strangely, my iPad 1 battery seemed to do better at first after the upgade to 5.0.1, but then got worse the past 5 days or so. Apple, pls dont forget us iPad 1 owners with the next fix.
