The restoring settings function DOES not work for me.  I did that, let it drain, killed it, and today Im looking at 1% a minute loss on 3g surfing and and calling.  Its just DYING like no ones business.  This **** 5.01 ***** terribly.  Plain and simple.  Nothing else, its the **** software, there isnt anything that fixed it for me, and I have NO location services going, NO wifi snyc, brightness at 15% maybe 20%, apps are all closed, time zone is off, etc etc etc.  Phone is NOT draining when asleep, but when in use its just going down a ton, and today is worse then other days for some reason.  I did the full suggest by davidch and no dice for me.

13% battery drain in 8 hours overnight while I slept. Unacceptable.

I'd love to only have 13% drain overnight.

I fixed my iPhone 4 to ios 5.0.1 two days ago. Now it ***** energy in 10-12 hours! I've recognized some crashes in applications too. Dear Apple what are you doing? I'll try to come back to 5.0.0 until the next update... This one is shameful.

I was impressed and enjoying the ios 5.0 operating system upgrade on my Verizon iPhone 4 until I allowed the upgrade to 5.0.1. Since I upgraded to 5.0.1 last week my battery is draining 50% faster. Prior to the upgrade I was able to get 24-30 hours of normal usage before I had to charge my iPhone, now I have to charge every 12-16 hours. The past couple of nights I've made note of the battery % when I went to bed and what it was when I woke up. Last night alone my battery drained from 73% to 46% when I woke up 6 hours later. To prove how bad the battery life is I had charged my phone completely to 100% and unplugged at 5:30 pm yesterday and by the time I went to bed (very little usage at all) the battery was at 73%. I have not made any changes to my settings or allowed anything more to be running on my phone since the new upgrade, it is the same. The good news is that I sit in front of a computer all day, have a car charger, and can plug phone into the wall at home so my phone should never shut down due to lack of battery - BUT I should not have to connect to a power supply multiple times a day. Apple, I finally gave in and bought one of your products earlier this year (after years of debating whether I should) and for the most part I am loving the iPhone, but this most recent upgrade has really been a negative one. I hope an upgrade will be out soon to fix this issue or Apple gives the option to revert back to version 5.0.0.

Yeah, 13% in 8 hours of standby is pretty amazing. That's way better than my 4 ever was on any version of iOS4, and I'd be thrilled if my 4S/5.0.1 phone even approximated my 4's battery life.

I don't know why your iPhones are having such battery drains. My new iPhone 4s went 48 hours with a 4% drain only with decent usage (a bit of surfing and gaming and a few Facebook notifications just a few). My iPhone 4s has the greatest battery life than any other fun. I'll try to post a screenshot when I can o.O

Where the **** is Apple, really, this is incredible, this thread is massive

And it seems to me that The Great Apple should be in here doing something,

Anything to help, so going back to Blackberry when this plan is done.

King, if you read anywhere but here, you would know that apple announced yesterday that the final version of the new update had some memory leaks. It's all over the iPhone blogs. Go back to BlackBerry because they are so much better. just a few weeks ago Blackberry services were down for days more than once.

As far as I know, Apple does not read this forum (at least not officialy). For contacting iPhone support, you should probably start somewhere here: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/contact/ (I guess).

Again I would like to express that in my case, main battery drain was caused with "iTunes WiFi Sync". When I disabled it in iTunes, my battery consumption went back to normal. (For me, normal is at least 24 hours of avarage use.) I hope someone finds this helpful .

Something I haven't seen asked here yet (I don't think!).......   Has anyone else noticed the rash of APP updates that have been released over the last week or so?   Could it be that there is some basic app function that is not playing well with iOS5 and is being revised?   I'm seeing what seems like way more updates than usual.

Yes, I have just updated 7 iPhone Apps (my navigation software too...). And there were few of them 2 days ago too. It could be true what you mentioned:
