iPhone 4s Battery Life | iOS 5.0.1 Update Does Nothing

Early yesterday afternoon, I downloaded the iOS 5.0.1 update on my iPhone 4s. After installing, I watched my battery drain 10% in 40 minutes while doing nothing on the phone. This update does absolutely nothing for battery life. I am beginning to wonder if this is a hardware issue. A recall on these phones would be bad for Apple. This morning, battery still dropping rapidly. My first iPhone. Very disappointed.

At first I thought my phone was defective. I took it back and got a new one. This one does the same exact thing. My wife, my boss and three co-workers are all having the same problem. All have done the iOS 5.0.1 update. It is useless.

Ok...restored as a new phone and put all apps back on manually. Charging now and monitoring with Battery Doctor to be sure the phone is fully charge. Then I will test and post the results. Obvious battery saving settings have been configured like location services off, Bluetooth off, time zone setting off, etc. Hopefully, the clean restore will do the trick.

I got my 4S on friday (after waiting two weeks for it) I was so happy and then... battery totally *****, update didn't fix anything, i was texting w a friend and battery dropped 2% in 2 text messages, im getting 5 hours of battery per day, without even using it too much. I don't understand why we have to turn off all location services and notifications... Those are some of the reasons why we get this phone, to be connected!! My friend has it on Sprint, and same issue.

Sadly i'm going tomorrow to ATT and returning this phone, i'm getting the 4 I had before. I will miss you Siri :(

I'm not happy!!!! X-(

Did a clean restore to 5.0.1 last night. Took my iPhone 4s off the charger this morning at 10:02 a.m. It stayed at 100% for almost an hour. Then, I made a couple of calls - one for about 40 minutes and another for about 20, did a couple of emails and a few texts. By about 2 p.m., my battery was down to about 50%. Still very poor but not dropping quite as fast.

Mine is dropping at about the same rate - 10% per hour without usage. When I actually use my phone, it drains very quickly. Apple called again today while I was at work. Will try to call them tomorrow.

Yet and still, even with all of these battery issues, my 4s beats the heck out of the Android phone I was using. I LOVE my iPhone - even though I have to stay close to an outlet 🙂

I'm trying to Restore it, again, i'm turning off icloud (since I don't use it), and tuning off some network location services, but not all.

I found this article (I hope they let me post it), so I'm having a little hope now, I would really miss Siri if I switch to Iphone 4 😟

I completely agree with the consensus that you shouldn't be forced to disable all the iPhone's features to save battery life, but does anyone actually use Raise to Speak for Siri? I've been so used to just holding down the Home button that I never put my phone close to my face to talk to Siri, but that could be because I've used Siri before when it was an app on the App Store. Try disabling it under Settings > General > Siri > Raise to Speak "OFF". My theory is that this could be "one" issue causing battery drain.

I leave everything else on and running (Bluetooth, Locations Services, Wifi, Push, etc) and my battery drain is average 7%/hr during heavy usage, or 1-2%/hr when in standby.
