iPhone 4s Battery Life | iOS 5.0.1 Update Does Nothing

Early yesterday afternoon, I downloaded the iOS 5.0.1 update on my iPhone 4s. After installing, I watched my battery drain 10% in 40 minutes while doing nothing on the phone. This update does absolutely nothing for battery life. I am beginning to wonder if this is a hardware issue. A recall on these phones would be bad for Apple. This morning, battery still dropping rapidly. My first iPhone. Very disappointed.

At first I thought my phone was defective. I took it back and got a new one. This one does the same exact thing. My wife, my boss and three co-workers are all having the same problem. All have done the iOS 5.0.1 update. It is useless.

Waze is a free navigational App. It needs your location to direct you. It has not access in over 24 hours either as I have not used it.

Think I will hard code in zip codes to the weather programs and turn off location for these however, thinking about it.

I've tried turning off location services for some applications, but none of them are listed under "Location Services". I remember seeing them listed before and being able to turn them on/off. All I see now is "Location Services", "Find My iPhone" and "System Services"

How do I see the list of apps w/ location services?

EDIT: this was after I reset my phone

Did you totally turn off Location Services. I think it's like a master switch. If you turn it off from the "Settings" screen, the list goes away. If you turn it on, all your apps show up, and you can individually turn them off. Maybe?

i feel a bit ridiculous, but i just realized i had my auto-lock in general settings at NEVER!

i changed it back to 1 minute, which is what I had it at before, and the battery is acting normally again.

i must have changed to to Never in order to work on the update and other stuff.

sorry apple!

i think my issue has been resolved.

I did hear from Apple. They interviewed me for about 20 minutes on how I used my phone and it's settings. After that, they emails me a battery logging profile, which I installed. This profile allowed the to collect data from my phone for a 24-hour period. They called the next evening and asked my more questions about my useage that day. They then had me email the battery logging profile. That was it.

hi all,

i found the culprit for battery drainage.. it is working for me now..

"find my iphone" in icloud is causing the drainage of battery atleast in my phone

I turned off all the items in the icloud and now its working perfect..i came with 100% battery at 8.00 am and now at 1.55 pm it is 80%..

two or three calls, checking emails frequently ..that's it

but before evenif i do nothing battery will drain to 45% by this time..

Look under Settings > General > Usage and it will tell your usage and standby time since last full charge.

So roughly 7.5 Hours of usage if you kept at that discharge rate. Better than I have been getting......

I disabled 'find my phone' and charging back to 100%....will see what I get out of it.
