Godaddy email smtp settings problem

I have been using godaddy for my web hosting for years,, and have always used their email, but would just forward to

my comcast acct in the past... now with icloud, i want to use my imap godaddy email on my iphone, ipad and macbook pro.

so all will stay in sync...


So as many others i've seen on this question,,, my incoming imap server works fine... however my outgoing

godaddy server doesn't work.. smtpout.secureserver.net ... it gives me one of 2 messages,,, either I have wrong

user/password,, or server can be reached.. I've checked spelling on user/password about 300 times,, so that's ok..


BTW,, this doesn't work on my iphone, ipad, or macbook...


I spent about 2 hours on the phone with godaddy, they were very polite,, and helped as much as they can,,, and i believe

they're right,,, they only can provide the settings that work in their systems,,, and help put them in the correct places

on apple devices,,, all of my settings were correct, and in correct places... we did even try several more advanced stuff,

ports, ssl, etc.. etc.. nothing work... They told me i should call apple... So I did...


I found something out I never knew of apple... never having had to call for support in the past.... I own, 3 iphones, 2 ipads,,

2 mac PC's.. and countless ipods.... and today I found out,, if i want support on configuring apple products,,, i need to PAY

money..!! am i nuts..? I told the guy what i thought about paying for support on software they just sold me... he didn't

agree or appreciate my detailed thoughts...


So here i am,,, incoming email works great,, sync'ing works awesome,, love it... however can't use godaddy to send email....


any ideas????,, anyone.??

if you were on with godaddy support and got nowhere Im not sure anyone can give yo other advice. The ssl port was what I would have suggested checking but seems like you have.


Do you have a personal email address from your ISP? You can usually use their SMTP Out server if the godaddy one doesnt work. For example if you have rogers, att, etc, usually you will have like smtp.rogers.com to use and that almost always will work. It's sort of a run around though. I resell domain names for GD's parent company WWD, and always use my local ISP for out emails.


Some googling suggests trying port 3535 with no SSL. Have you tried this?


Some other combos I found:

SSL on and off

smtpout.secureserver.net

smtpout.secureserver.net:80

smtpout.secureserver.net:3535

mail.secureserver.net

Thanks for the help,,, I had tried most of those combonations,,, and i just tried the few

that I hadn't... those don't work either...


I did however notice something,,, when I use the "correct" sever name smtpout.secureserver.net,,,

and any combonation of SSL, and ports,,, the rejection comes quick,,, and is always wrong

username or password...

But, when I try various versions of the server name... , the rejection takes at least 10 minutes,, and the message

is always server can't be reached...

So this at least leads me to believe the server name/address is correct,, and the problem is likely

a combonation of SSL and ports... or the possibility that godaddy and apple just won't play nicely together..


but to answer your earlier statement,, I do have a personal email acct.. and I do use that server for outgoing,, but i'd like to eventually get rid of that email account...

I gave up after I learned gmail will let you register your email; mine is with godaddy as well and then use their outgoing gmail server! I switched and have zero problems now with outgoing mail. Now the only remaining problem with my imap with godaddy is i get "some" but not all of my email in my iphone; all in my laptop desktop and ipad. Go figure! Any ideas on that appreciated

OK I got the answer from an awesome Apple Advanced Technical support rep today!


In Mail

>Preferences

>Accounts

>Account Information: Account Type: POP

Description (your email address)

Incoming Mail Server: pop.secureserver.net

User Name: (your email address)

Password: (your email password)


>Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtpout.secureserver.net (CLICK ON THIS AND SELECT "EDIT SMTP SERVER LIST" (See a few lines below for instructions here)

>Check Use only this server


Go into Advanced Tab

>Port: 110 (uncheck Use SSL)

>Authentication: Password


After Edit SMTP Server List:

>Select email account at top section


>ACCOUNT INFORMATION tab

>Server Name: smtpout.secureserver.net


>ADVANCED tab

>Check Use Default Ports (25,465,587)

>Check Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

>Authentication: Password

>User Name: (your email address)

>Password: ( your email password)

I FOUND IT! Yessssssss!


The GoDaddy iPhone app that originally only searched for available domain names is now a fully functioning email app. I don't know when the update happened. I've been using it for a week without any problems. I can finally reply to my business emails using my business email from my phone - after years of waiting - problem solved. Yay! Applause! 😀
