Error code -8076

Trying to rename a folder on mydesktop and get the following message:

An unexpected error occurred (error code -8076).

I can't find anything about this and have never had this problem. I have other folders that I renamed with no problem. I created new folder, copied contents of "old" folder into new one and then tried to name the new one. Same error. Very strange....any ideas.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Finder problems are more then not solved by deleting the com.apple.finder.plist files found in the now hidden user/library/preferences folder. u will need to restart finder after the deletion or removal for the changes to take effect. good luck!

From another topic ...

I saw that it solved others' renaming problems on 10.7 .

Good luck

I have the same problem but the solution doesn't work with me.

Am trying to rename a folder but all of a sudden I get the error code: The operation can’t be completed. An unexpected error occurred ~ 8076

I have looked in Macintiosh HD / Library / Preferences and can see some .com.apple files, but cannot see com.apple.finder.plist files

Am I doing something wrong?

Kind regards,

Luke
