No signal on iPhone 4S, weird problem!

I got my iPhone 4S today. I inserted my sim-card from my iPhone 4, but I got no signal. Sometimes it get signal a few seconds before it says "No service".
Then I tried to insert another sim-card from a friend, and then it worked fine.
To check it wasn't an operator lock or something, I inserted my sim-card into his iPhone, and surprisingly it worked.

I would appreciate you'r help if you know something about this!

By the way - I've tried to restore network settings multiple times with no sucess.

This my post earlier. you're not the only one. Thousands is having that issue after updating to 5.0.1 some even without updating.

I think I have cracked it. I have read every post and comments and tried and every possible fix. Does not work. I'm using iPhone 4S 16gig bought from Melbourne, use in Cambodia carrier Mobitel.

Issue, no signal. 3G come and go. I have to on and off to get back signal sometime aeroplane mode on and off. My iPhone is useless. It was fine on 5.0 problem only exist after I update to 5.0.1.

I tried my GF sim card and everything works fine, signal is full. I switch back to old sim problem come back. Today I went to the carrier and get me a new sim (does not matter 32k or 128k, they only have 32k btw, same sim I used before) And now, its fine. Its been 3 hours now. Normal I have no signal every 15-20 min I have restart and attempt to call someone to get back signal. I think when 5.0.1 was installed, something in the OS messed up the sim card. However that sim card still works fine on iPhone 4/3GS and other phone.

I know some people have tried this and still have that issue. I know your frustration. If issue still persist, keep trying different sim cards. You will see the different. I hope it works for you. Now for me I am inclined to not update software without prior research on forums.

Hey there. The problem is (my thoughts atleast) is the new antenna system in the 4S. Since it's now a "world phone" and switches between GSM and CDMA I think it requires an updated and a more "powerful" simcard.
I had the problem before updating, and I only had the problem with my older simcard. I tried with another simcard from a friend of mine which was a newer one, and it worked fine.
I haven't had one problem since I got my new simcard.
The strange part is that Apple didn't inform us about this. Not even the stores who sells phones and such things..
But, get yourself a new simcard and it will work out for you too 🙂
Good luck!

Hey. I have changed microSIM be the issue persist. I both it in France and now I am using it in Brazil.

My carrier is TIM and now I see "TIM 3G" displayed but then when I try to browsing using 3G network it just does not load web pages and the iphone disply 'No Service'.

Then I tried moving 'Network Section' to manual. I am know testing it...and will report results.

I dont know what else to do.

Did anyone who update iOS to 5.0.1 do a rollback to iOS 5.0 version. Did a fulll reset solve it?

Thanks!

I have experienced somewhat of the same issue. My phone started oscillating between a great signal ( all bars ) and no Service about every 30 seconds. My phone was useless.

I thought I would restore it to a new phone status. That solved the problem, but when I was attempting to restore from an old backup, there were no backups to restore.

That is the problem I have now. I don't know how to retrieve my old backups.

Hi Apple Support team. This is definitively a issue with iPhone 4S

I have an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4S. iPhone 4S was presenting all these weird signal issue and iPhone 4 was just great!

I have than switched mircroSIMs between then and trhe result is that iPhone 4S continue to have the same bizard signal issue an iPhone 4 is keep working great. An important remark: both updated with iOS 5.0.1

Conclusion: iPhone 4S has a huge problem of managing signal (including 3G) which makes this new device totally useless.

Please Apple Tech Support we need a direction/light in order to know how this will be solved as soon as possible. This just cannot stand any longer - as it was quite an expensive product and so far no definitive solution was anounced by Apple

Best regards

Frank
