Question

I can't hear ringing tone on iPhone 4

Help!My iPhone 4 with iOS5.0.1 was working fine till a few days ago.I can't hear ringing tone when I call somebody(even voicemail)or the person answering the phone.And when I want to disconnect the call I'm making-'cause I'm not hearing anything,the screen just freezes saying "ending"(call).I have to restart the phone to end the call.No problems with people calling me and messaging,e-mails,listening to the music etc.I tried with headphones as people were suggesting,tried restarting and rebooting the phone thousands of times and still nothing.Any ideas?

Problem solved! I went to my network operator store.They told me to go to Settings - Safari - Delete all cookies and delete all history.Then go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings. And it worked ! Since then no problems at all! Of course after the reset your password for WiFi,if you're using it, will be lost but you just enter it again. Try to do the same thing guys - if it worked for me hopefully it will work for you too. Good luck!

An update-nobody can make calls to me either.They can hear the ringing tone but my phone is not ringing!

Thanks, it seemed to work as I can make/receive calls flawlessly.

Also, what solved it is to turn on or Enable 3G and set Cellular Data to ON. While this worked to solve the problem. Apple still needs to correct the bug for 5.0.1 because there should be no problem even if the 3G and Cellular Data is turned OFF.

YES I am having the same problem. I have done every step advised and still it keeps happening once a week. I am so fuming as I am still paying the darn phone off. Grr! Can apple respond??

Hello all...

I'm on iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 on Australian Vodafone Pre-paid network.

Have a similar issue where I would call my iPhone from a landline, ring tone suggest that phone is ringing, but the actual iPhone device itself is not ringing.

Tried calling out - the screen just freezes saying "ending"(call).

Thought it was the network, so I got myself a new sim - same problem.

Use other (working in other iPhone) sim on the problem iPhone - same problem.

Tried calling out from the problem iPhone - same problem.

The only fix for me was to reset the iPhone by going to: Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings.

Hope that helps others...

The question is - what was the root cause of the problem? Hmmmm...
