Search results + New Tab + History - shows as google URL

I just noticed in my history menu pull down that when I do a search say at google, find some pages and open them in tabs, they show up as a google URL and it doesn't show the website name. I apologize if I'm not explaining this very clearly....here's my steps

1. go to google type in search

2. open results in new tabs

3. navigate to history page or pull down and see something like this

---

http://google.com/url?asd;lkfupq384oijraefdspoihuqjwreafpsdoi;hjweafpsd;hio

http://google.com/url?asdl;fjkqwpori;lkajsdf;m,nva;oiu234p8uasd;jkln

Google

If I navigate to the history screen in safari it looks like this

(no title)

(no title)

google

---

If I click on one of the googl.com/url? links it will take me to the correct site. The problem is this is super annoying if I want to come back and find that link/page I was looking at the next day and all my history shows is link after link as '(no title)'.

Is there a privacy setting I checked that I can un-check or something?

Same problem here. History is now useless. Probably a thank you to Google.

Google, is becoming another walled garden. The difference is Apple makes money by selling devices people want. Google makes money through ads. Google could not care less about the user experience with a product that's designed to register clicks as opposed to customer satisfaction.

I've noticed this too. At first it only happened if you had Google's autosuggest feature turned on, but now it's across the board. I think it's because Google wants to track your browsing history, and also encourage you to sign into iGoogle and use its history feature rather than your browser's.

It's getting to the point where I'll probably start using DuckDuckGo or Bing for most of my routine web searching.

I am having the same problem.

the "correct" answer says "turn off instant search predictions on the google setting page) (at the gear in the upper right hand corner of a fresh page @ www.google.com); allegedly no google log-in is required to hold this setting, but presumably it would hold only until you clear your cookies.

That did not work for me for searches from the search bar or for searches at the main google page.

I checked the problem with Safari extensions off, thinking I might have to eliminate them one by one but that didn't help.

Partial solutions:

A/ When I use Startpage and later close a tabbed page I reached via Startpage's search results, Safari's history feature works correctly. Take it as another good reason to use google as little as possible. I use Startpage as often as possible, and only use google when Startpage's results aren't satisfactory.

B/ May I humbly I that suggest others add their comments and results here, and until / unless someone has a consistent fix, perhaps file a Safari bug report (under the Safari menu).

At the very least, perhaps Apple can make it easier to edit the list and the order of search engines in the search engine tool bar.

I set it to "allow" mode, and the used trial and error on Google's search results to block the offending script.

Blocking this seems to work:
