After installing the update make sure you reset all setttings. I have done a few updates now and have had much better sucess after settings reset all. Standby drain has been virtually eliminated from 2-4% hr before update. It is located in settings/reset//reset all settings. You loose some wifi and desktop settings, but data, apps, etc remain intact.
I seem to be facing the battery problem again after syncing with iTunes (not restoring).
Will try a reset again and see how it goes.
May I know if you switch off you phone for recharge?
Hi I received a replacement iPhone 4s on 11/13 and the apple tech backed my info to iCloud then restored from iCloud. When everything finished restoring I updated the software to 5.0.1, read your post, did a settings reset drained the battery until it shut off then did a full charge and I'm still experiencing battery issues. Any suggestions?? I took a look at my usage and it says 75% battery life...1hr 56min standby and 1hr 32min usage...

Well here's my battery life today:
Unplugged at around 2pm, left it in stand by for 3 hours, after which I had 96%. During that time I had a few texts coming in. I listen music via Bluetooth for 2hours today, check email for 13min, browse the net for 3min, check the news(apps) for 30min, went in a no service area for 30min. Also made a few calls for 10min, by the time I plugged in I was at 18%.
All in all, I don't know if this is good for my usage..maybe my battery life is defective. What you guys think?
If I do a full restore without restoring from back up what about my contacts and messages and pics?
Your battery life is great. I unplugged mines around 10:55pm and I'm at 68% already. With little usage.
you can try restoring from the back up first but if you still have the issue, just do a full restore without your back up. Then check for a day to see if your battery is better or not, if it is then it's something in the backup thats causing it if not, then it's hardware and you should get a replacement. If anything you can back up contacts to itunes and re sync, can't say the same for messages but you can do the same for pictures.
Anyway before doing that, try my other suggestions on that page.
