Q: remote app

Something has changed.  I am using the remote app on my iphone and since I installed it I was able to choose playlists, albums, artists, adjust volume, switch output devices, etc.  At some point the app changed so that all I can do now is request a song through DJ.  I can't seem to find any way to change the settings.  I must have done something, but I don't know what.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am having problem with my remote app- In that the app on my iphone loses the connection to my Apple TV 2.  It only works when delete it from the dock from my iphone and then restart it.  Not sure if the issue is related to the one above.  Maybe there is a bug and we will have to wait for a update.

    Regards

Delete the connected library in iPhone's Remote app.

Restart iPhone and pair it back again.

I had similar problem, was working and then not. Couldn't get the Remote app to sync with itunes, so nowhere to enter the 4 digit code. Deleted the library, reset iPhone, all sorts. Final thing I hadn't tried was a reboot of router. God knows why, but it works now.

Unsure why, but the app is working now.  The problem is still that I can not do anything with it.  I can't adjust volume, play a playlist, etc.  All I can do is request a song...

The remote app can control your iTunes songs (play, pause, stop and change library)

If you want the songs to play on your iPhone you don't need remote for that.

Use Home Sharing in iPhone's Settings > Video and in Settings > Music.

ckuan - How do you get that to work ? I have home sharing on all my devices, same account, and it doesn't appear via Music on my iphone. Only way I can get to iTunes is via the Remote app.

Remote app on my phone does not allow me to change songs, only request songs.  I can't even get to "what's playing".  Is it a setting that I need to change, or did they change the program.  I used to be able to switch to next song, view playlist, etc,

Well, to have music or video playing on your iPhone without syncing, you have Home Sharing on iPhone (Settings > Music > Home Sharing and Settings > Video > Home Sharing) setup and also in computer's iTunes.

Once done, start Music app > More...( bottom right )  > Shared.

Choose your shared library and play whatever you have on computer's iTunes.

Delete the library in Remote app and pair Remote app on your iPhone again with computer's iTunes.

I have managed to getting it to work properly.  This is because my phone is situated near my Apple TV 2 and was not wired connected to the Aiport Extreme.  Apple recommend connecting the Apple TV 2 to the router via ethernet.  Once this was done the App worked perfectly.

What are you trying to do?

    Home Sharing using iPhone?

    or Remote app?

Finally figured it out.  Make sure that home sharing user name and password are the same on all devices and computer.  The step I kept missing is turning on home sharing on my phone.  The directions to do this are at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4557 .  As soon as I had followed these steps it all worked.
