What is the Largest drive than can be installed in the Mac Pro. Building servers and our limit is not throughput it is storage.

2 TB if using the Apple RAID card, otherwise the largest you can find which I think is currently 3 TB.
Well now that begs a different search for a Raid card that will do 4-3 Terabyte drives. The DataBases are all 50G storage space per allocation to client. That gives me 75 clients with 0+1.

A good RAID controller, with 8 ports can drive more than enough
Drive prices have almost doubled lately.
Some even want to put their DB index on SSDs.
Largest drive is fine if you only need 90MB/sec but want 1.5TB - most 3TB drives are Green which you don't want or $400 each, which actually use to be considered reasonable for small 15K drives.
apple store: highpoint mac 6G 4-port $250 would do nicely for a small 8TB external array
