iPhone 4S won't pair with Ford Escape SYNC bluetooth for hand-free legal phone. Help!

My iPhone 4S is not recognized by the SYNC bluetooth product in my 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid. Therefore, I can't pair the phone with the vehicle so that I can have legal hands-free use. I paid a lot of money to have a service that Ford isn't providing. Ford says Apple doesn't give them updates, and maybe next March they'll have a fix. Can this be true? Do I have to wait 4 months for a maybe fix?

I am having the same problem, I have a 2011 Ford Escape and one of the selling points was the Sync system. I just got my iPhone 4s yesterday and the phone doesn't recognize the device when I'm sitting in the car. I haven't tried calling Ford yet but this really makes me unhappy. I use the Sync all the time, especially on long drives. I really hope there's an update sooner than March.

My original iPhone worked fine in my Ford Escape. Only now that I upgraded to the 4S do I have a problem. Why is Apple saying that iPhone was never bluetooth compatible when thousands of us have had the opposite experience with the earlier iPhones?

Don't blow smoke, Apple. Being proprietery can become a bad thing when taken too far.

Ford now tells me that they've had to create a special team of geeks to tackle this problem.

I'll tell you this... my new employer asked what mobile device I want, and I chose BlackBerry.
