Convert voice memo attachment to ringtone

Hi everyone,

So I recorded a voice memo on my iPhone and sent it to my wife's iPhone. Now she wants to make that voice memo into her ringtone. I assumed this would be simple, but I can't seem to figure out how to make this happen. Any advice on what is probably so obvious would be appreciated.

Thanks.

OK. So in iTunes with your phone plugged in, find the voice memo. Send it to the desktop. You can go to www.freefileconvert.com, and you will first need to convert it to an mp3. From there, you need to convert it to an m4r, but unfortunately the site I mentioned does not support m4r, but I'm sure there is another website to convert to m4r. Alternatively, I have a Mac, for which there is an easier method, so if you email me the file, I could return the .m4r file to you.

OK, I figured this out. The solution is:

1) Log onto email on wife's laptop. Open email containing the voice memo I sent her. Download the attachment.

2) Change the file extension from m4a to m4r. Merely a matter of renaming the file, no converting necessary.

3) Drop the new m4r file into the "automatically add to itunes" folder (my music > iTunes > iTunes media > automatically add to iTunes)

4) Plug in wife's iPhone and sync.
