Powerbook G3 Lombard, I reformatted with Panther and now it doesn't recognize the wireless card.

My Lombard was working OK with this wireless card before I reformatted it, under Panther 10.3.9. I wiped and reinstalled Panther and updated to 10.3.9 again. At the top of the screen it shows the card is in, but Airport Assistant says there is no Airport card installed. Did I have some other stuff installed I forgot about and need to reinstall? Thanks.

Is the wireless card a Lucent WaveLAN?

My old PB G3 has one of those. It's one of the most compatible cards for the OS 8.x-9.2.x range of operating systems with AirPort. However, it is not natively supported under OS X, and AirPort is not supported under OS 8.6 or earlier.

Make sure to download the proper version for Panther. Section 4.0 and below include software for AirPort compatible cards, and additional cards. Good luck. There is a lot of reading involved!
