Movies deleted on iPhone show up in iTunes

When I delete a video file on my iPhone and connect the phone to iTunes, the deleted file still shows up in the list of videos in iTunes in the "Movies" section of my iPhone under Devices. The file is indeed gone from the iPhone, but I cannot figure out how to convince iTunes of that. I can delete these "orphaned" videos in iTunes but it's a pain since I have a lot of videos on my iPhone and cannot easily remember which ones I deleted when looking at them through iTunes.

I understand that this problem would automatically go away if I were syncing movies (I "manually manage music and videos" on my iPhone) but I use my iPhone with several computers so it's out of the question.

Is there a way to force iTunes to actually check which video files exist on the iPhone?

Thanks very much in advance!
