My old MacBook Black running snow leopard is sluggish and flaky in normal mode. I want to transfer my applications and data to my new macbook pro running Lion. Can I use migration assistant with the old macbook in safe mode to do ther transfer?

To use Migration Assistant you want to boot the old computer into Target Disk Mode - Transferring files between two computers using FireWire. You need a Firewire cable to connect the two computers via their Firewire ports.

Yes, that's possible although much slower.
I guess I'll pick up the proper firewire cable to link to old and new machines tomorrow!
