I have the latest version of iTunes and iOs 5.01
When I plug my iPhone 4S into my Mac it now asks me to either set the phone up as new or restore it.
I have been using my iPhone 4S since release day when I got it and this is the second time this has happened. The last time I tried restore and it completely reset my iPhone meaning I had to set it up all over again.
Why is iTunes doing this and how can I stop it so that I can sync my iPhone properly?
The idea of iOS 5 is to become independent from iTunes. Back up via iCloud instead, then try connecting to iTunes.
Well that might be the "idea" but it's also an option!
I want to sync and back up using my Mac and until the release of iOS5 this hasn't been a problem.
Right, I understand that. But I am suggesting that you do a backup through iCloud so that way if iTunes asks you to restore again, you won't lose all of your data.
I am afraid that s not possible due the current predicerment I am in - I cannot move past the "do you wish to set up as new or restore your iphone" screen
Also having the problem. Phone ended up restoring to the last iTunes back up I'd made in October. Lost a few apps, texts and photos (also gone from photostream too) but music / playlists thankfully ok. Given up using iCloud for back up, decided to try to stick with iTunes again and see if that helps.
