After update to iOS 5.0.1 ipad 1 won't charge at all!

Have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I got the same problem. I tried this method but it still doesn't work for me. Any other ways to resolve it? Hope Apple notice this and fix it soon!

I know I have noticed the same issue. Come on Apple!! My solution was to plug my iPad1 into the wall charger, reset using the top button. If it doesn't automatically turn on, turn the plug on and off (without disconnecting the iPad). My iPad now charges providing I don't actually use it!

Resetting (hard or soft) didn't work for me.

Try a different charger. If you can replicate it not charging with multiple chargers, (multiple being at least two) and multiple outlets and multiple cords, then it may be time to take it into an apple store. The USB port on the iPad can go bad. If that happens you can lose the ability to charge or sync.

Having the same problem. Resetting doesn't help, itunes won't recognize it. Seems that it is happening with over the air ios 5.0.1 updates when not plugged in to a power source. Other threads report the same problem with iphones and ipod touches. Waiting on you, Apple.
