I installed the latest software update and the next day the iphone is completely dead. It does not turn on or off. Connected to the charger, there is no indication of charging. I have had this iphone for about two weeks.

Did you try hard restarting the phone? Hold down the top (sleep/wake) button and the home button at the same time until the apple logo appears? This should take no longer than 10 seconds.
If this does not work it sounds like you need to take a trip to the Apple Store. They will help you out.
Your phone will still be under full warrenty so don't get to worried about it, chances are you will get a brand new phone.

Thanks for the advice. I just went to try the hard restart and my phone came on (without the hard restart) showing 15% for battery life. It was plugged in overnight (maybe a bad connection), but clearly something is very strange as it was fully charged as of about 4PM yesterday. I have had an iphone for about three years (3GS) and never experienced this before. It now seems to be charging but there is not the usual battery symbol on the screen. I am guessing that I should somehow reload the software update (I have already done the update last Friday). Any suggestions (or should I venture to the Apple Store just to have it checked out)?
I would wait and see if this happens again. If it does then defiantly take it into the apple store. If it doesn't happen again then it is up to you weather or no to take it in. Chances are if you can't replicate the problem then they wont be able to provide you with much help.
