iPhone 4s deleting old messages as new ones arrive - HELP!

Hi!

I have a iPhone 4s which has been working like a charm except for one things which I just discovered yesterday (I've only had it for a couple of days).
When I recieve text messages or iMessages from someone my phone deletes the earlier ones - I still have about 15 or so, but if I scroll up and want to look at earlier messages the option isn't there! As far as I know there's supposed to be a "button" you can push which says something like "view older messages" or something, and it just isn't there.

Anyone heard of this or can anyone help me get this option?

I really, really hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance.

I am having a similar problem my iPhone 4 with iOS5. When I scroll up, I can hit "Load Earlier Messages," but not all of my previous messages appear.

I know that this happened about a month ago as well, and then one day, all of the messages that had disappeared before just reappeared, but they are gone again now.

I've seen other threads about this issue, but no solutions so far.

I hope someone can solve this problem. It seems as though the messages are still on the phone, but are just being hidden for some reason.

I'm having the exact same issue! Everytime a new text comes in, it deletes the oldest one under that contact. Here's the weird thing...if I search a key word from a lost text, it appears in the results. But when I select it, it is nowhere to be found. So the automatically deleted/lost texts are still on the phone, just must be a bug that is causing them to be hidden. Took the phone to the genius bar at apple, and they were no help. Did you find a solution to this problem?

Hello,

I have the same problem but with my iphone 3gs. After the new upgrade to 5.0.1 I realized that all of my old text messages disappear after every new one I receive. I just spoke to an engineer at Apple support and he said he will be calling me back in a few days, once their team finds out what the underlying issue with the software is, that is causing this. As soon as I hear back I will post the outcome. Until then, I suggest you all call and make it apparent to the support line, because when I told them the issue I was having they had no idea, and said it was good that I brought it to heir attention otherwise they hadn't heard about such a situation until now. Hope tha helps :-)
