Echo Full Name not shortname?

Is there a way to echo a the full name of the currently logged in user? I need to write a LoginHook that will connect a local users to their SMB home share. The script will be used for around 500 young students all running 10.7.2. So when a user logs into their one to one machine the hook will grab their First "space" Last name, set it equal to a variable and then just fill in the blank of the path to their home. If someone has an easier solution please let me know! Thank you in advance.

mount_smbfs //domain.k12.us;20%@studentshares/homes/middle\ schools/school/$USERFULLNAME

Multiple ways to do this. Here's one:

tell application "System Events"

tell current user

set fn to full name

end tell

end tell
