Since updating my iPod to iOS 5.0.1 my docking station will not charge my iPod or play my music. I can charge my iPod using a USB plug or my laptop. Can anyone help please?

Having updated my iPod 3rd Generation to iOS 5.0.1 my Philips docking speaker is unable to charge or play my music. It recognizes it for a second then unrecognizes it, then recognizes it, then unrecognizes it. It is like it is having a hissy fit everytime I plug my iPod into it. My iPod beeps when I initially connect it to the speaker but then it disconnects itself after about 2 seconds. This has only started happening since updating to iOS 5.0.1 last night. Please help!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I tried the reset....No luck. I then tried a friends iPod touch, software version 4.2.1 (I think) and that connected fine, charged and played through my speaker.

I haven't tried the restore from backup or restore to factory defaults...bit dubious about this as it is not something I have done before and don't want to risk losing everything on my iPod. Will I be able to restore everything back onto it from my iTunes on my laptop?
