microsoft office not compatible

I got my macbook in March 2010 and have been able to use microsoft office until now. Whenever I open work, powerpoint, or excel, I get the message " check with the developer to make sure that microsoft word works with with this version of mac os x. you may need to reinstall the application. be sure to install any updates for the application and mac os x." I have updated my computer with the most recent version of os x. Now what? My office suite is still not opening. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
